S&W model 19 help

Smith May have cylinders left over. I’d call and ask. A factory repair would be my choice, with factory fresh parts, if possible.

If not a good smith can get it back up and running.

Replacements are not impossible to find. Several on EBay right now.

Recessed vs non recessed is an important distinction.

Several nickel ones too. Make your own pinto!

Really not a big deal unless the frame been stretched. Part broke? Replace part. Carry on.

The model 19 being based on the K frame , which was originally designed around the .38 special round , I'd say that the guy who stretched that cylinder should be grateful that he does not have a piece of it embedded in his face.

As others have said it is probably a bulged chamber. You can also use the calipers and measure the outside of the cylinder. If it is a bulged chamber you most likely will get some weird readings. I just helped someone on the S&W forum with this problem 6 months ago, sold him my last cylinder that I had for parts.

S&W does not have any more cylinders but they can tell you which ones you can use as a replacement. Sometimes you can find replacements on ebay and a few other places.
