I have a S&W Model 64-2 , SN AFS22XX, with a broken hammer nose. Both Numrich and Brownells list the parts but there are different parts for pre and post 1988 manufacture and I have been unable to find an online source of S&W dates of manufacture by year, Would anyone have some idea as to when this revolver was made?

Another problem is the rivet which holds the hammer nose in. Numrich shows the rivet as out-of-stock and Brownells shows it discontinued by the manufacturer. Any suggestions for another source? Can the existing rivet be reused?

Thanks

The fastest and easiest option is to call S&W and order from them.
All you have to do is tell them the serial number and they'll know just what to send you.

In case they don't have the parts, here's another place to contact:

Best parts house but you have to call.

You "might" be able to re-use the rivet, but it's much better to replace it if at all possible.

+1, call S&W. That gun is pre-88 manufacture fyi, but they will sort that out for you.
