I seen something elsewhere that some of those didn't work? Thanks for the link I am debating on the rifle. If I got one it would be in a big caliber cause I already have 2-223rem. :) Just have to make sure the car gets tires and stuff first. Been driving on bald tires this whole time just waiting on income tax. :)

I got three recently and they worked, they were $80 for a $100 card. Bought S&B primers when the were on sale for $20.

Oh so your one of the culprits that got all the primers? lol. I checked as soon as the sale went on this week and it went from available to nothing in like 10min. :). I will check those out if I do buy the rifle. Thanks again!

You can find used stocks aplenty on Ebay, or you can order one from Boyds and buy the "bottom metal" (whether actual metal or the plastic version) from Savage. I do a lot of swapping with guys on the Savage Shooters forum. If you're patient, what you want will come up or you can post a want to buy ad and someone will respond. The great thing about these Savage model 10 actions with the top bolt release is that there are about 1 million of them out there and people are used to swapping parts out. It's a big reason we get into Savages.

For the guys comparing this to the Axis, I have both and the 12FV is significantly better imo. The action is beefier, the bolt is smoother, the bolt handle is much better, there is significantly more aftermarket support, and even though this factory stock isn't great, it's better than any of the Axis stocks that I've handled. This is also a short action rather than having the long action of the Axis for short action cartridges.

This is one of the best deals out there for a rifle imo. I've got one in 308 that's been surprising for the price. I can consistently shoot sub moa groups at 100 yards with hand loads. (I haven't tried factory ammo.) The trigger is very good for a factory trigger, and you can cut a coil off of the spring to get it down around 1lb. To me that makes it about perfect. The oversized bolt knob feels great, and the gun just works well. The stock is the only thing that isn't great on it, but it's not nearly as bad as you'd think reading some of these posts. It's fairly stiff compared to a lot of the stocks on Savage's 10 and 11 hunting rifles. It's free floated and even shooting it with a bipod stays free floated. Are there nicer stocks out there? There sure are, but the factory stock works just fine and you're left with the ability to upgrade it at any time, should you want a nicer stock. If you're looking for a budget target rifle this is a great choice. If you're looking for a target rifle, it is a bit heavy.

Overall, I love mine. I'm tempted to order a couple in other calibers.

I am looking at one to , think I need to call cabelas first as I am not sure on the rebate , savage arms website shows no such rebate ? I also tried to click the cabelas $100 rebate link and it came up blank ?
has anyone bought one of these 12fv and submitted for a $100 rebate ?
I know Savage had lots of rebates last year but those have expired 12/2017 according to savages website ?
even vista outdoors that handle these rebates show no such rebate ?
just curious almost sounds to good to be true $269 for a new savage 12fv

It is true, and available, but only until March 1st. So if you really want one for the net cost of $269, suggest you move quickly and follow the rebate instructions exactly.

I noticed that also but I thought about it and it possibly not working so I'm going to hold off and hope later in the year they do it again and maybe cheaper. I would like a 308 or 22-250.

The rebate is through Cabela's.

This is the current sale.

Regular Price: $419.99
Sale Price: $369.99

Now enter the $100 Rebate but there is a slight caveat. Here is the rebate form. Now if we read the form carefully, the fine print we never read says:
"Cash redemption value is 1/100 of 1 cent. Offer limited to purchases from Cabela's only. Maximum of a $100.00 rebate paid in the form of a Savage Visa® Prepaid Card per qualifying purchase to U.S. residents.Visa Prepaid Cards are issued by MetaBank®, Member FDIC, pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A. Inc. This card does not have cash access and can be used at any merchants that accept Visa debit cards".

While this is a good deal do not expect a check in the mail for $100. You get a pre paid Visa Card with a hundred bucks on it. Also, while I can not speak for all states, here in Ohio you will pay sales tax on the sale price of the gun in the store, not the price after the rebate. Still a sweet deal for the buck if you are cool with the Visa Card.

Well hell, Ron, I'd rather have a card to a paper check anyway - it's 2018 for crying out loud! Way too much processing for a check to become spending money, compared to a pre-paid Visa!

This Cabela's offer, this year and last, with the sale pricing and rebate, is really a great way for guys to get into a semi-custom, easily customized rifle. There are a BOATLOAD of these 12's running around in boyd's stocks already... Grab up an MDT chassis and you can have a Savage BA Stealth clone for about $300 less than street price for the real deal - even less if you get a blem. I picked one up before the end of the year, it'll likely get a chassis for its birthday at the end of this year - and will likely become a 6XC once this factory 6.5 Creed barrel is toast.

Oh I agree it's a sweet deal. I just wanted to point out the conditions. Heck. as you mentioned, use the pre paid VISA towards a stock.

I only do what the voices in the head of she who must be obeyed tell me to do. When she says if you want it, buy it, then I buy it. Sometimes I do listen to the voices in my head. :)

The 22-250 is a pretty hot cartridge. The cartridge also has an interesting history from its inception as a wildcat to its development and release in around the mid sixties by Remington. Take a large case and neck it down to push a little 22 caliber bullet. over 4,000 FPS in the case of 40 grain bullets. Plenty of really nice cartridges were born of Savage cartridges like the 22-250 being the spawn of the Savage 250. Since you already load 223 Remington you will have another rifle which can share .224 diameter bullets. The only possible downside to the cartridge is when loaded hot there is some throat erosion but many who shoot and love the cartridge do not see that as a problem, matter of fact, my take is those who love the cartridge really love it and swear by it. I guess if it trips your trigger then go for it. Just be aware the sale of 22-250 rifles is closely monitored by prairie dogs who will place your name on a black list. :)

I was going to go with a 308 or a 6.5 but after checking bullet and brass prices i said eh, maybe not. The 22-250 using the same bullet is what's pushing me towards it. I've wanted one for along time but i already have a woodchuck gun i keep telling myself! I guess its just one of those things with playing with something new and also the 4k fps! :) I would imagine 22-250 or 243 would make a nice varmint rifle and hammer the coyotes that hang-up across a field.
