i have a bunch of rifles from a fire, i am trying to disassemble them...is there a trick that i can use,beyond soaking in kroil and my 100 pcs brownell screwdriver set??? the group includes-ruger m77/.25-06-ruger mini 30/.223-fn-fal/.308-sharps-.45-70-winchester mod 94-.30-30-plus a dozen pistols

Aside from soaking in PB Blaster, a screw jack and some heat are probably the only other options. The scary thing about a fire is the heat treating level in the firearms. Are they fire damaged or just water damaged?

For stuck guard screws, I have found an impact driver to be very valuable. You insert the screwdriver bit into the slot, and then you hit the driver with a hammer. First soak in Kroil, then use the driver. I got mine from McMaster-Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/ Put in 5610A2 as the part number in the search window.

Short screwdriver, G Clamp or vice and a vice grip plier to turn the screwdriver. You have to lock it all up then slightlyyyyyyyyyyyy loosen off the clamp/vice, just enough to allow you to turn the screwdriver a poofteenth of a turn. It will move a bit then teh vice/clamp will be tight again. repeat this slowly and carefully until it is loose. Best performed by two people.

Did the guns actually get burnt bad? Be careful, the heat treatment might have been re-treated so to speak. Not much of a bargain if the bolt ends up sticking out of your forehead.
