There is a Remington box fed semi auto rifle that can do 30-06 and similar. I have a 742 which is utter junk, but the later models were better.

Vz 52 in 7,5x45 are rare as good politcans, so is the ammunition. 7,62x45 are more common - you probably meant this version.

Agreed. Assuming the purchaser does even a moderate amount of shooting, the cost of .308 ammunition will eclipse the cost of the rifle within a fairly short time span.

If you're going to drop money on a .30 caliber gun, you may as well spend your money on quality and get something that's well built.
