A few years back I shot my Digital Pro. The electronics were unscathed. Two years ago I bought replacement screens and upper housing. At that time, the lady I talked to said it may need recalibrated. I have taken it out twice and the readings are 20% or more off.

To those who have shipped theirs back. Did you wrap it with any shipping paper, or did you just put in original box and tape up with address label? I have the original box and sleeve for the box. And have the form filled out in the box.

I tried calling them for to clarify a couple concerns. But no answer.

TIA

What were you testing it against?

I would send it back in its original container but would keep all the parts That are not going to be replaced at home.
I'm going by load data. The 1st time I had 357 mag. loads that should have at the least given me in the 1600s reading and I was getting in the 1100s. Barrel length 18" and 300MP powder.

The 2nd time I was shooting some 147 gr. XTP in 9mm Luger. Per data, I should have been mid 900s. But was getting 700 fps or less. Barrel length was 4" and CFE-P powder.

Original box is fine but I would put it in an outer box to ship just to preserve the original box for storage when you receive it back.
CE will double box it when shipped back.
I have the original sleeve that goes over the box. I was thinking I could tape the ends to secure the label on. But I will look to see if I can find a fitting box to fit it in.

UPS Store locations have lots of box size options.

I'd probably wrap it in bubble wrap. The USPS has delivered small boxes of lead bullets to me thar had been retaped, with a couple bullets smashed/dinged, so I would wrap the electronic device completely protected from any gorilla package handler...

I’m not a hoarder, I’m not a hoarder, really…. But I save a few different sized boxes from Amazon and all the plastic pillows that come with them. I don’t trust any shipper with just the original box unless it was well protected inside.

Get a USPS medium flat rate box. The box is free. Then cushion it with bubble wrap/crumpled newspaper, whatever. It ships for the same price as long as its not more than 70 LB I think. I always add a paper inside with both to and from address just in case the label gets destroyed. Use clear tape to seal, NOT DUCT TAPE. It will get the package ripped open if you use it.

Well, I took the advice of shipping the chronograph back in a used box through USPS.
They replaced a 330 ohm resistor and the Prodigital front sticker. $17 for repairs and function testing, and a little over $30 for shipping to and from.

It will be a few weeks before I can get it to the range.

  1. Keep a copy of the return form for your records.
  2. Return item(s) and all related components to Competition Electronics Inc. (in original packaging if possible).
  3. Ship packages via a traceable carrier such as UPS, FED EX, or USPS. (C.O.D.’s are not accepted)
  4. Any warranty work performed will require a dated sales receipt

Yes, I shipped it in the original box with padding, and that was packed in a larger box with padding.
I mailed it in Good Friday, so one week there and back.

It was a non-warrentied repair.

So I go it out today and they didn't disappoint me.
I shot 21 different loads over it on a partly sunny day. Nearly 200 rounds with 0 errors. All loads measured near where I expected them to be. Even compared one load with a Beta Gamma Chrony, and they where within 10 fps of each other.

Here's how close the readings were between the two chronographs. The bullet is RMRs 124 gr. JHP Nuke. 1129 fps hi and 1089 low.

Sorry for the chicken scratch looking notes
