Smith & Wesson says its gun sales jumped 40 percent in quarter

S&W sales leaped an amazing 40% in just the first quarter according this article from Fox News. In addition it's profit has more than doubled, and they expect sales to continue to rise in the coming 12 months.

This is a very healthy sign both for Smith & Wesson and for the rest of us as it flies in the face of other reports which claim that gun sales are leveling off.

"The Springfield, Mass., company now expects sales for the fiscal year ending in April to be between $900 million and $920 million, a notable climb from its previous range of $704 million to $760 million and the average analyst estimate on Thomson Reuters of $777 million."

I only wish I had invested in their stock earlier.

Not too late, it actually dropped 6% yesterday.

Now if you mean you wish you had bought it on September 30 2011, when the price was $2.52 a share, yeah, you'd be making out pretty good now even with the 6% drop to $27.69. What's that, an almost 1100% increase in 5 years? Yowser.
