Couple weeks ago I bought a 100 round pack of Red Army Ammo, 7.62x39from J&G Sales. I haven't noticed more of a shortage on 7.62x39 than most other ammo...

7.62x39 is armor piercing...

Anticipating a ban on it too?

I dont know but I am loving the Red Army elite brass cased ammo. The ammo shoots accurate out of my AR and the brass is pretty nice to hand load with. Now if I could just find AA 1680 powder anywhere.

No....its not. At least not the stuff commercially for sale (in the US, anyway) in the past few decades, nor is any recent military surplus imports. The last "steel core" ammo I remember shooting in 7.62x39 was Norinco in the mid 90's. I don't know of any available ammo in that caliber that would be consdered AP anymore. Now, I'm not saying commonly available ammo can or cannot defeat boody armor, but none of it meets the ATF's definition of "armor piercing"

Let me rephrase that...."armor piercing" (in quotes)

A legal definition will not stop the "ban" wagon, IMO. Russian 7N6 wasn't "AP" either.

SG Ammo doesn't always list their complete inventory. The inventory numbers are massaged at times due to market factors, what their competitors are doing, etc. This includes limiting the quantity available at an initial site update, but later on you'll see the numbers magically repopulated.

AK ammo

I bought a 1000-rd case of Tula 7.62x39 from ammoman.com last night for $247 shipped... or so I thought. They upped the price to $254 (I backed up the browser to see if the cart amount changed and it was still $247) and I was still charged $254 for some reason. I emailed customer service and the guy treated me as if I was lying. I'm keeping the ammo, but they lost my business permanently.

Bait and switch pisses me off, even if it is just seven bucks... and their customer service is lacking.

"please!! Thats my favorite bulk ammo !!"

That's what the little old lady in the pink "I can love AKs too!" hoody said just before I hip checked her into the rack of duck calls. Took her place in line and got the last 500 rounds.

To late for panic buying, There were a few box of Ak left all the 223 and 308 is gone the guy in front of me bought 1000.00 dollars worth
2 days ago that shelf held about 2000 boxes of ammo it was gone in about 3 hrs at most.

Everyone is ready for the big bang . You can feel it as MSM is ramping up the fear factor.

Cracked me up!! :D

Just get any piece of metal up to 4000 fps and it becomes quite adept at piercing armor. I was thinking of loading some of the "dreaded" m855 projectiles in 22 250 cases or 220 swift. Now those would punch a hole though some steel. My 338 lapua makes holes that look like they were drilled through 7/16 angle iron. Every day numerous freedoms are taken away from us...we only hear about a few of them. Try building a house or starting a business. Regulations, approvals, licenses, permits, etc....so many americans want the 'other guy controlled' never realizing we are cutting our own throat. My 2 cents.

FWIW, SGammo.com seems to be resupplied with a variety of 7.62x39 loadings presently

yeah..!! me too..
