So I'm pretty new to carrying on a regular basis, and well aware that I'm likely to be hypersensitive to getting "made." But it sure seems to me like my Tucker Texas Heritage makes some prominent squeaking noises as I move about. Anyone else notice this? Maybe it'll go away as the leather gets broken in more...

Hate to point out something completely obvious, but put a dab of CLP or gun oil where leather meets leather. Not much, just a touch then wipe the excess clean. Shuts it right up.

This works on shoes, too, btw.

;)

I doubt if the holster manufacturer would recommend putting oil on the holster, as oil softens as well as lubricates. Kramer recommends that you put nothing more than neutral paste shoe wax on their holsters. My holsters all stopped squeaking by themselves.

Lexol leather conditioner, normally used for car interiors works well for quieting down the leather and is actually good for it since it is designed for leather.

Sounds good. I got to thinking about this as I was carrying in a true "test zone"- my parents' house. I was damn sure I printed a few times, some with my dad standing right beside me, but it didn't come up, so either I was way overreacting (likely), or he just didn't care (possible). But I swear that creaking and squeaking sounded as loud as heck... I'll try some of the stuff and see what happens.

Thanks!

Most of the time you can print blatantly and nobody ever notices. The exception is other CCW'ers who are looking for guns on everyone.

People don't think about what they can't see or what isn't right in front of their noses.

I silence my VM II with a little candle wax rubbed on the contact points. Oil or conditioner or anything like that is too likely to soften the leather...which would be bad for a holster.

Just lightly coating the surfaces where they meet certainly didn't soften mine up, at all.

I wouldn't recommend (and didn't) slathering oil on it like you would neatsfoot oil or making the holster wet at all.
