IMG_0749.JPG IMG_0748.JPG IMG_0750.JPG Was wondering what the model of the upper is? Any other info would be great.

This is my first rifle and I have no experience or knowledge of rifles.

Since the lower is roll marked 5.56, it is a safe bet that the upper is not original to the lower. Any marks on the upper and/or barrel itself?

Do not fire this weapon until correct caliber is determined, a 300 BO cartridge can feed into a .223. Chamber and make a lot of noise and damage when fired. The barrel should be marked as to caliber, all of my 300's are distinctly marked as to the caliber--- magazines too by me and kept in separate cans from .223. Your upper could have been a assembled unit when purchased or assembled by a private party using parts from ??? If not marked as to manufacturer you are going to remain in the dark. Buying a used AR without full disclosure as to the origin of all the parts is a poor move.

IMG_0753.JPG IMG_0752.JPG I found a couple of marks on the upper but no caliber markings. It has RRA stamped on the left side of the rear sight. It has a keyhole stamped on the right side under the sights.

I'm assuming it's a 300 blackout upper because it says 300 blackout on the lower where you slide the magazine in, it also came with a full clip of 300 aac blackout and a couple boxes of nosler ballistic tip 300 aac blackout.

I have not fired the rifle yet. I just inherited it so I wanted to do some research before I went to have some fun with it.

Here's a couple markings I found on the rail but I don't know if it will have anything to do with determining the caliber. IMG_0754.JPG IMG_0755.JPG IMG_0756.JPG

The uppers are generic to most all AR rifles, so markings on it could be wrong, even if one exists. The barrel is the best way to check, it should be marked, probably near the muzzle. That marking on the magazine catch is an aftermarket part that can be easily changed.

You can also take it to a local gun smith or gun store and ask for help. Generally they will be glad to answer your questions.

If you decide you don't like whatever caliber it is in, an easy barrel swap ( <$125) can put it to what you want.

Looks like you now have a nice set up, hope you enjoy it...............whatever caliber it turns out to be (my guess is .300 BLK).

IMG_0760.JPG IMG_0759.JPG IMG_0758.JPG IMG_0757.JPG There are no markings on the barrel that I can find. Nothing close to the muzzle except a scratch.

That silencer mount/flash hider makes it hard to see the muzzle. One last trick, drop a pencil down the muzzle, if it drops all the way it's a 300, if not .223

That's an Alexander Arms 300BLK muzzle device, I don't believe they offer it in other calibers. Has the ratchet quick release and threads for a suppressor (not properly timed, BTW). No guarantees, though. Measuring the bore diameter is your best bet. Could be somebody built an upper for an existing .223 lower, but AR15 lowers work with any AR15 caliber; the magazine release says 300BLK, but again, no guarantees.

Will a 30 caliber cleaning rod go down the bore? Seriously, just figure out if it's a 22 or 30 caliber bore.
