With all of the ammo serialization laws being pushed, one aspect will be keeping records of who purchased a particular box of ammo. So, does this get us into a situation of being guilty of a straw purchase for ammo. If I'm at the range and give you some cartridges because they seem to misfeed in my gun am I going to be guilty of some new felony? Can you do a group buy for ammo? One of these laws will get passed somewhere.

who knows... its entirely possible to get into trouble in any of these situations... IMO, these laws even if passed will be found to be either unconstitutional, or unenforceable by courts very soon after they are passed...

as of yet, i dont believe that any products of any kind are regulated by registration like this proposes to do... well, except cars, and you dont have to get a license plate in most states if you never take the vehicle on public roads...

They may not be enforceable, but will they leave them on the books and simply use them to harass gun owners tieing them up in court cases for no reason?

..turn in empties, would that be .05 in CA and .10 in DE and MA? and would the embossing of such on the brass mess up the feeding in auto-loaders?

like the 96 'goofy' ban, serial numbers on ammo will just punish the honest. There's gotta be trillions of rounds of ammo around the world now without serial numbers that could supply for decades. No different than hi-cap magazines. The prices on them just creeped up over the years, but there was plenty to be had right up to the expiration the 96 ban.

The most recent serialization law on ammo would require the destruction of all non-serialized ammo that is included in the law if not used by a certain time frame. I believe 2011 in the TN law.

Yes, the law would punish the honest law abiding citizen. Bad guys would ignore the law. So, what is the point? People control, socialism, etc.

Laws like this could create a whole new enterprise . Think about it .

Law passes and by a certain date in the future , all non serialized ammo must be destroyed or turned in .

An entrepreneurial individual decides to buy up all he can in common calibers , .45, 9mm, .380 etc .

After the date that all ammo must be destroyed/turned in , he starts to sell his ammo via the "black market" , doubling or tripling his investment .

When he runs out , he takes his earnings and starts "importing" non serialized ammo from outside the state/country .

Essentially , it would create a whole new "cartel" , but instead of drugs etc , it will be ammo . So by way of legislation , the gov just created a whole new criminal enterprise .

That would never happen. It would be against the law.

I think you'll simply see ammo manufacturers close down, or move to LE/Gov sales only before it gets to straw purchases.

That's the whole intent of these laws anyway..... make it too expensive to be in the ammo business at all.

Dont mistake socialism and people control to be synonymous.
You could have a government with a big chunk of socialism, without having government controling the individuals rights to arm him or herself. A totally capitalistic government can take away every human liberty and control every aspect of a persons life.
What it is all about is respect for fundamental human liberies, no matter what method of distributing the wealth created in agriculture, industry and trade the country uses.

Not only bad guys would ignore the law. If this tripe were to actually get passed, i have a feeling that more than a few "law-abiding" citizens would have a few ammo cans left over that would not be destroyed.

Realistically though, I don't see this going anywhere, it's very similar to the ballistic fingerprinting that was all the rage a few years ago. The cost to .gov to implement it is INSANE(er than even they can handle).
