Probably a mistake, but I had a deal on an ISSC MK22 fall in my lap, so it's on the way.

The rifle is tan, and I'm looking for a quality optic in tan or possibly FDE.

Having a tough time finding something - think I might be leaning towards a red dot, but scope not out of the question.

Seems every tan optic I search for ends up on a airsoft site.

Thanks

My opinion is to buy the scope you want, then mask it off and shoot paint. I've done it twice, both times used the same procedure. Install scope caps such as Butler Creek, etc, and mask over them. Sort of double protection for the glass. If you have target knobs, mask them, too. Shoot very light coats, you don't want uneven paint to cause lumps or runs, especially where it's going to sit in the rings.

Vortex Razor HD's are a tan'ish color, you can get ACOGS in FDE. Neither are cheap, but are you looking for a fashion accessory or something that works for you?

Masking tape and spray paint if you don't want it permanent, skip the masking tape if you don't care whether it's permanent. Then you can select any optic you want. ;)

And exactly what's wrong with a fashion accessory?

Hey, the rifle itself may be nothing more than a toy (hopefully the updated version is reliable) but I do enjoy shooting .22, especially with a silencer. I just got one of those darn sale e-mails and couldn't turn down the price - will be my first AR style rifle that's not black.

I just figured it was time to try something new, and I see all these pictures of tan optics, but when I go looking for them they're nowhere to be found. Maybe companies ran a batch off when they were the hot item, and no longer make them?

Anywho...I think I have a spare EOTech and Bushnell Throw Down PCL in my optics drawer.
Thought I might want to give the Trijicon MRO a try - I could swear I'd seen some of them in tan in the past, but I can't find them now.

Of course, price enters into the equation - don't mind spending a little money on a quality optic, but if they're rare folks tend to ask inflated prices for them.

Small scopes in general are hard to find with really good glass. I have a Nikon 3x on an AR and really like the small size (8.1"), but the glass, while nice, is far from really good. I guess there just isn't the market for it.

You can get some 1x by 4x or 1x by 6x scopes with great glass, but the objectives are small and the scopes are long. At least compared to 8".

I had heard the Monstrum name before - there are a few other "no-names" out there that I'm looking at also - Lucid was also mentioned.

Still not having much luck finding what one would normally think of as a quality (name brand?) optic.
My wife has the exact same scope in black on her AR. She is happy with it. It is obviously not Swarovski quality, but it is good enough for casual shooting, and the illuminated reticle makes it nice.

As far as plinking optics go, Monstrum actually has good reviews.

Well I guess quality is out the window, but I do have a tan optic on the way - don't ask (it's a bit embarrassing).

On the plus side, the rifle arrived and it seems to be pretty tight - the folding stock locks up tight, unlike video reviews I saw of the first model.
