Hello all. Just writing to share this with you. Has anyone else received such a text?

I received a text from Everytown yesterday afternoon. It read, "Hi there, it's Connie w/ Everytown/Moms Demand Action. Today, yet another community has been devastated by gun violence--this time in El Paso, TX. As we mourn, we must also act. Volunteers in your area are organizing and fighting for gun reform. Are you ready to join them?"

Aside from this text, allow me to share my thoughts in general. My thoughts on the future of our gun rights, especially anything semi auto with more than a few round capacity, have been more pessimistic when I have reflected on the idea in the last couple of years. I believe that a large enough percentage of the general public will eventually demand a virtually complete semi auto ban. The mass shootings and the spending/activity by the antis will change the tide, doing incredible damange to our freedom and ability to protect ourselves. At least this is how I think/feel about it currently, based on my perceptions of the pulse of this country.

Personally, I shoot action pistol and will never give up semi auto as a tool for self defense. Everyone in my 60 + person office (some of whom also own guns, but I don't know exactly how many) knows that I use my guns responsibly. I haven't taken many new shooters out, but I am always looking for the opportunity. I know I need to do more. The special legislative session in VA last month was alarming, though it went nowhere. My opinion is that it is going to take a lot more of us getting into elected office and perhaps various community activities, in order to keep 2A off it's death bed.

I'm heavily anti-spam so I have zero idea if I have received one.

Sounds like a great idea.

Most mass shooters the shooter uses only a pistol.
They just want to ban guns not address the real problems.

We're all ten miles offshore, treading water in our swimming trunks. People are drowning (and being drowned) all around us.

The gun control folks are telling us it's time to stop allowing anyone into the water.

I’ve gotten text messages like that before.

Not recently though. Last time I replied with a joke, had an interesting exchange with a staffer that self identified as a female (non-binary of course) and I’ve never gotten anything else since.

I’m sure I’m on a list somewhere for re-education camp.

I am a chronic gun owner and shooter; it is my loved hobby. I have always thought about how I might change my perspective if one of my family was gunned down. I reflect on that quite a bit, I am just not sure.

Hopefully, you would be knowledgeable enough to know and keep in mind that governments who have a monopoly on guns kill literally millions of times more people than civilian criminals.

Crazy had a lot more to do with it than guns. The media had much more to do with it than crazy. Everytown is trying to get in on the action before the dust settles. By then it will be up to the courts to decide.

Moved the main body of my post to another thread.

But EVERYTHING from the moms thingie group is tainted

It's been reported that THAT Walmart was posted.
Could be. Where was that reported? I've seen it "reported" on a couple of forums, but of course that isn't a reliable source of information unless it's first hand and/or there is substantiating evidence presented.

I've never seen a Walmart in Texas with 30.6 or 30.07 signs. There's the TBAC warning sign that any store that sells alcohol has to have, but that has no impact on licensed carry.

Walmart is getting EXTREMELY careful. Two recent experiences:

1. When you go to pick up something you ordered online, they ask you if you want to open the package to make sure you got what you ordered, but they don't have a utility knife. Feeling sorry for the young lady who was helping me who was struggling trying to open my box with her ballpoint pen (!) and didn't respond when I asked doesn't she have a box knife, I said "Never mind, I have a knife", took my pocket knife out of my purse and opened it myself.

2. I saw an article somewhere that said Walmart sells a really good filleting knife for $4, and the reviews all said they bought an extra one because it's really good for slicing tomatoes and onions, which can be difficult with your typical kitchen paring knife. So I ordered two of them and went to pick them up. The staff person said I had to show ID because to buy a knife you have to be over 21. I am a little old lady with gray hair and if I had grandchildren they would be older than 21. The young man apologized but said it's the rule.
