Thunder Ranch Oregon: 2005 Schedule

I've looked at the new schedule and I have a question, hoping someone can help me. Why the switch from 5 day courses to 3 day courses only?

tetleyb,

I don't know. It might be that, since Clint's going to be personally instructing and the class size is limited to 8 students, the students will get a lot more individualized instruction than in the larger classes. There certainly wouldn't be as many repetitions as there would be in a 5-day format, though.

Hmmmmmmmmmm...I did not know his classes were going to be restricted to 8 students. That maybe the reason. I enjoy small classes, more training that way. Thank you.

I can personally attest to the quality instruction Clint provides. The week I spent there in TX at Thunder ranch was an awsome experience. Not only was the time an educational one, but the great people he has with him along with the atmosphere made it all worth while.

Although OR will be a bit less convienant for me now (in-laws moved to TX) it would not discourage me from further classes from Mr. Smith.

BlkHawk,

Wasn't questioning Clint's ability to teach or his credentials as an instructor. I've been to many of his classes in Texas. I was actually, and still am, looking forward to his classes in Oregon. MUCH closer for me in California. I was merely trying to figure out if there was a reason for the day changes is all.

R-Tex, Doc has not yet called. He must be birthing babies. He'll get around to it.:D

So, it's Thunder Ranch, Oreygun, Inc. now? No more Skul o' Farms?

Classes are smaller as the focus shifts. Looking forward to it. Never been to Oreygun, will miss Tejas for sure!:(

Tetley,

Sorry if I made my prev. post like it was towards you. It wasn't I was just staing kinda matter-of-factly that's all.

Just realized it now, School of Arms will be on the complete opposite side of the country from me now. At least TX was 1/2 way.

can't speak for Clint, but i will ask him about the 3 day format

the TRO facility is smaller (by design & desire)
this will facilitate teaching/learning.
smaller class size allows better control
of range with smaller number of staff

I do know he has alot of requests to do
specialized classes and the new schedule
allows for he & Heidi to teach personalized courses

Lakeview, Oregon is awesome. Ideal for a range. It's a lot dryer than the Willamette Valley and a lot less populated than Tejas. 99% of the country knows even less about Oregon east of the Cascades than it does about Alaska. There's a whole undiscovered country there.

Anyway I'm very happy. 2005 is about right for me, and Oregon is where I'm from :D

Oregon also issues out of state carry permits to visitors if you ask the right CLEO. (i have a feeling that lakeview would be a good place to ask too).

more like 14 hours skunk. It used to take me 12 hours to get from camp pendleton to ashland OR, which is 14 miles across the boarder. and as a Jarhead, you can rest assured I wasn't going the speed limit ;)

El Tejon, re: Oregon Non-resident CHL

Residents of contiguous states (WA, ID, CA, NV) are eligible to apply providing they complete the training requirement and their app is accompanied by a letter from their home state's mental health authority attesting to their not having been committed to a mental health institution. You'll also have to provide a compelling business interest or need for the permit.

My last class will be in October. Don't know that I'll make the pilgrimmage to Oregon. What was a 500 mile drive would be 1500. You can fly into Klammath I guess or Reno, one is 100 miles away and the other is 200.

Gunsite is only 50 mile further down the road than the old TR so we may try it next.

Hi, Lawyerman -

I'm signed up for Handgun H.I.T. in October - is that the class you're going to?
