Howdy, Doc -

I tried to get in HIT in June, but it was already full. I'm really glad they added another HIT in October. You and your Queen sound as though you're nearly as serious about TR as El Reprobate, er, Tejon.

Don't you think the Smiths should invite all TR alumni down for a farewell blowout? Maybe if enough of us signed a petition... ? :D

I canceled out of the last Old Rifle course I was going to in November, because the article I planned on writing would be too dated at that point. Rich and I have accepted Clint's generous offer to have a sneak peek at TRO in August.
"You saw in first in S.W.A.T. " I love it when a plan comes together. :D

more from TR:

I emailed with Heidi, she gave me more info regarding the format

I have been asked that question ALOT!!!...I will give you my response.
With the class size being only 8 people...there is allot more time for
addressing individual needs...the more time...the quicker the issues are
resolved on the line. You have 16 less people then a 3 days course
here...so much more time to get more tactics in...new skills refreshed and
new ones on board...there is no time for driving to the different ranges
8 people and 2 instructors...one being Clint...3 days will be hard enough...
5 days is too long...from our perspective...3 days is just right...

Thanks, Doc -

Sure sounds good to me, even if it is a slightly longer drive from East Texas! :D

Spent last week out at TR. Heidi and Clint have decided to keep the Thunder Ranch name for the Oregon facility. For folks making the cross-country trek to Oregon, Clint will offer Tutorial Blocks on Mondays and Tuesdays, so you can pay a little extra and get a full five days of training in Oregon, if you so desire. Class size [on the three day gigs] will be eight people and, according to Heidi they will have most of the TR-Texas range facilities in a more streamlined format in Lakeview. Very, very nice.

Curious:

What is to happen to the old TR facility in TX? Demolished, picked up by someone else, what?

I will definitely be attending classes at the new facility. 6-8 hour drive away from my home.

Well, that is yet to be finally determined.
Clint owes the range equipment and the range buildings (including the tower, thunderville, and the terminator). Actually though, Mr. Matthews owns the land
and the other buildings (classroom, office, bunkhouse, camp buildings, cabins and
the new bunkhouse, Clint & Heidi's house, the little house, the shop and the barn.
Mr. Matthews may desire to keep some of the existing range facilities intact.

The surplus range equipment and some of the buildings are to be sold.
The structures owed by, and desired by Mr. Matthews will be left intact.
When last I heard Clint explain HIS plans to an interested third party, he
mentioned that the local EOD boys MIGHT come and practice on the tower.
