Tikka discharged out of battery

SwaneeSR - I purchased the rifle new in November of 2012, and I haven't had any other problems with it. But, beyond a few trips to the range (maybe 4 or 5), it hasn't seen much use. It has never been to a 'smith.

Ironically, my go-to rifle is a Remington 700 Mountain (also in .270win) that I've shot extensively over the past 25 years. It has never had any issues at all.

And, thanks for the concern. My brother was in a bit of shock, but neither of us were injured during the incident.

Sorry if I've overlooked if you have but have you contacted Tikka about the issue? Would be a good idea for your safety and potentially the safety of others that you do if yours isn't the only one with a possible defect.

Jesus Christ man, did you even read the original post? It's only 4 sentences. Yes, you overlooked it.

Read it looking for that very thing and it slipped right pass my brain.
Not enough coffee combined with not enough sleep.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

ngnrd,
I'm glad to hear there were no injuries!

Please keep us updated, especially about what Beretta says about it. I have 3 Tikkas of my own and one is a .270 Winchester I use for silhouette matches. There have been several hundred rounds sent down range without so much as a hiccup.

I am very interested in the mfr's evaluation and determination, indeed.

Thank you for sharing this incident.

Send it back to Tikka. I'm sure they want to know what happened and will be fair to you if it's their fault. They have a good reputation and my guess is they want to make sure it does not happen again.
