I realized that I carry my Beretta 21 .22lr more than any other gun. It’s easy to do a chamber check, it’s compact and light, and it fits my hand. I’d like to say that I carry my Shield 9mm, Smith 442, or even RM380, but I’d be lying.

I feel better! A little gun forum therapy. Now I’ll go back to reading about folks that carry a Glock 19, with an extended mag, and a light, in an appendix holster!

If you wanted to know who else carries something smaller caliber, say .32 or less, all you had to do was ask. I've seen more than a few posts of folks that carry such. To each their own.

I actually do carry a LC9s every day. No reason to lie.

Wow! I’m impressed. I’d need a parka to cover that EDC!

I'm wearing cargo shorts and a dark colored T shirt one size larger then my regular size as I write this. Good holster and belt are essential.....just have to dress to the gun.

Ah, OP, so the thread title? "Time for a little honesty..." Is there an implication in there that those who state on gun forums that they carry a full-size duty pistol or even a compact (anything bigger than a Beretta 21) are actually being less than honest? That really, nobody can effectively conceal anything about a mousegun? Or are you simply coming clean and admitting that you don't know how to comfortably conceal something larger? Maybe I'm reading too much into your post.

Anyway, just asking.

When I wear a suit, I wear a Tomcat INOX in an ankle holster during the day. During the winter, it goes in my coat pocket with my hand on it most of the time.

The rest of the time, G19 or 19X appendix. I don’t see the issue people have with appendix carry unless they’re really overweight.

I’m actually coming clean! I don’t comment or judge the veracity of other people’s EDC. I’ve got LOTS of compacts and subcompacts, and an equal number of holsters. I seem to come back to pocket carry, with an affinity for the Beretta. I’m probably lazy or a creature of habit. I do carry a spare mag, for what that’s worth,

That's funny, I carry a 1911 in 45 acp all the time where I live, which is pretty rural. A loose shirt usually does the trick. But when I head into Phoenix, the 45's in the truck, but I always slip the little Beretta 21 in my front pocket and I'm fine. I've found that 8 rds that it calls for sometimes hangs up on number 2, but with 7 rds in those clips I've never had a hiccup, Don't feel unprotected, I don't want to be shot by 7 CCI stingers.

I want to tell you I strap on a full size 9mm at all times. I wish I could admit that it's really a single stack 7 round 9mm. It would be nice to sheepishly concede that it's actually a pocket .380 that makes the 24/7 cut.

However, cards on the table... .22 magnum NAA Wasp is what I usually have on my person. I'm thinking about picking up a Pug to supplement, but those little minis just pack nicer than anything else. Walking the dog, hiking my uncle's woods, strolling along the beach on vacation...better to have something than nothing.

To be honest carrying my 1911 compact is not easy in light clothing so I am getting a S&W 638. I would not be afraid to a face down with a 22LR loaded with Stingers or the like as I can put 10 rounds from my MK3 into a football target at 10 yds as fast as I can pull the trigger. Can't say that for my 45 nor will I be able to with the 638. Someone on PCP is going to need a hit in the CNS to be stopped no matter the caliber and there are VERY few humans walking the earth continuing on with a chest or face full of stingers.

I have my son's DB .380 in my pocket as I type this. I wore it while cutting the grass earlier, weighs about the same as my BodyGuard .38, but thinner. I might have to pick up an LCPII....;)

Gotta say, of all the guns I've EDC'd at one point or another, the Tomcat was my favorite. It was "Just Right" in the hand, in the pocket, or on the ankle- depending on the weather and situation. Don't remember ever having a malfunction with it and the sights were pretty good.

Then the frame cracked! Supposedly the new production guns are better, but Ive seen too many cracked ones on the interweb to ever trust another one.:(

Largest gun I ever carried was a 3" .357 J-frame, smallest was a .25 Colt Vest Pocket. Nowadays my .380 Govt. gets the nod most often, but I'm lookin at switching to a .380 Pico- to each his own.

It’s one of my favorites. The newer black ones are wider slides. The INOX I don’t think ever had the cracking problems. I’ve shot just enough Buffalo Bore to prove function with no ill effects, but I don’t ever shoot +P since.

I did bust a firing pin dry firing - typical problem, so snap caps now.

Truth be told (now that I let my carry permit lapse after moving to a new state) I don’t really miss carrying. There are times I want to, and I will get my permit again, but I’m not in a hurry.

When I was carrying though I was packing heavy weights. All carried the same way...options below.
M9 fully loaded plus 2 mags.
Taurus m44 6” plus 2 speedloaders
Delta Elite plus 1 mag and a fixed blade knife
Taurus pt99af plus 2 mags
Smith 686-6 4” plus 2 speed loaders

I like little guns, but I don’t shoot them well usually. I also dislike the fact that they are lacking in tactile perception. If I am carrying a pistol I want to feel it. I want to know where it is, if it’s wiggling loose, and I don’t want it getting loose enough to bite me. If you look at my list you will see some trends...full size, heavy, hammer fired, single action capable...I never had a hammer jab poke or pinch me like when I carried a j frame. I never had a gun pop out like when I carried a keltec p11. I never forgot I was carrying like when I carried a little 25 junker. I used a barrel down/back nearly vertical shoulder holster with spring retention. The same holster worked well for everything except the 44 because of its larger cylinder. Weight isn’t a problem if it’s situated well.

I'm just glad you are carrying something.

Personally, I dropped down from a 1911 to my Colt Gov't .380 (because it was what I had) because it allowed me to carry more places, I found I was leaving the .45 in the truck console more and more. Once I got past the idea of carrying something smaller than a .45, I upsized the .380 to a Kahr CW9 or CM9... and we lived happily ever after.

...and, since we are being honest here, I'll admit I used to carry a Jennings .22.

I may prefer my Ruger SR9c, but my Taurus 85 sees more time because I can slip it into an empty pocket.
Now that I have to wear slacks and tuck in my shirt, it may be time to grab an LC9 or something, that won't be as thick or I could tuck into the inner blazer pocket.

I have carried full size autos concealed before;

CZ SP-10 Phantom in High Noon Down Under IWB. STill use it occasionally

WkDItfM.jpg

And sometimes I carry OWB with t-shirt over it - like this rig, today.

CZ P-10C, (White Nitride was the actual one carried today), High Noon Holsters Stingray, wearing it while I type this. Fat gut makes shirt drape easily.

Both on a High Noon Holsters Rock Steady gun belt. The belt is key, and a pistol AND magazines with a good fnish are a must. The White Nitride is in for a rough test, as Arizona summer weather is right around the corner.
