Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

I haven't spent any time in the wild lately....but I have been in the outdoors.
Harvest is moving along well. Our machinery has been very reliable (to put in gun terms)
That's me in the combine under a beautiful full moon late one night.

I choose to carry this classic model 10s&w in a holster behind my combine seat. Once in a while I witness a varmint chasing a baby cotton tail and I intervene. 20230130_111354.jpg
Usually just stopping the combine spooks them away.

Is the combine new this year?
Love the model 10. I need to make a revolver range trip!

Haha
Just ribbing you a little.
I ran the same machine last year. It's a good one. (Knocking on wood right now).
We just rolled past 100hr service notifications and have yet to stop for a mechanical problem. (Knock-knock-knock).

I'm headed to my lgs this morning (rainy here today) to pick up a new model 10 with a 3" pipe.
Pics to follow somewhere on THR.
Maybe we need a service revolver picture thread?

I didn't remember that the combine was a track set up, versus tires.

Congratulations on the new 3" model 10!
Looking forward to your pictures. You truly do a nice job displaying your firearms.

I am posting this here because if this gun passes the tests of reliability and accuracy as I expect, it will likely become my trail gun/plinker at least for now.

I'm not a fan of the very fake stag plastic grips. When my middle finger came up against the back of the trigger guard, I discovered that it is still sore from the bruising my 870 supermag gave it about a month ago. The lgs that I had it shipped to had a set of combat grips on the bargain table, so snagged them for $10 they look like Ahrends.....worth a try! 20231005_154052.jpg 20231005_154121.jpg
There....that's better!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. I don't like the fake stag grips either.

Nice looking combine setup. Some days I really miss farming.
I think I answered @Southerner up North question in #2040. Not sure if I'm missing something else?

The XDM grip angle is closer to a 1911 than a Glock.
I followed you. Next trip to LGS I will check on an XDM, if they have one.

I'm sitting on a spur on the east side of Mount Cutler. Do you really care that I'm carrying a Glock and a Griptilian? I am trying out a new Walking Stick today.

So the funny thing is I'm sitting on this rock with my back to the drop and you can't see it but there's hill behind that but my brain keeps telling me I'm going to fall backwards off that rock.

Went for a hiking on Rib Mountain today. Leaves are changing. We hope to make it back during the next two weeks.
Still looking for a photo of a mountain:evil:

Just kidding. As a former resident of the upper MidWest, I can joke about what're called "mountains" back there. WI, MN, MI (esp. the U.P.) still rule when it comes to fall colors, though!

Sunday I put out five 50lb salt/mineral blocks, swapped memory cards in all the cameras and then grab my carbine and went for a long walk in the woods and just enjoyed the first cool weekend of the fall.

The old Model 10 wears so comfortable in my old Safariland 567 holster especially when in and out of the UTV a lot, it went along for ride. In the right picture you can see the hole the deer have dug at this location. We have keep a salt block here for several years in a row. With all the early rain this summer last year's block was gone early but the deer had dug the pictured hole going after the salty dirt underneith.

After the "work", I switch to this unlike combination for my walk. A 1916 Webley Mark VI that I was hopping to take an Armadillo with and my 300 BO carbine with suppressor. The turtle propping up the Webley is just the shell of a dead one. I was sort of bummed as I like box turtles and we usually have a bunch of them on the property. But to my joy I encounter two live ones a hour or two later.

Never did see any armadillos this day even at sunset. But a saw turtles, redheaded woodpeckers, turkey, deer, squirrels. It was a lovely fall day for a walk.

I really hate taking these pictures. I'm usually back off the Trail somewhere taking a LEAK when I take them

Crossing the creek for the last time and heading up to the parking lot. 7 miles.

And I ran into this guy right across the creek.

I was waiting for the grizzly to appear in the video. Awesome photos and videos

It is now season in Georgia and I am a Traditional Bowhunters currently using a Toelke Whip longbow.
I hunt on a friend's farm an hour away. For my early morning/after dark rides I am always armed.
Lately I have been carrying a slim Glock 48 9mm with Dagger 15 round magazines.
Walking in or out in the dark with a pack of coyotes howling makes the hair on my neck stand up. I feel better with the little Glock and it is so light I barely know I have it on.

Pics or it didn't happen.

By the way I'm not really questioning the veracity of your claim. It's just this discussion is more about the pictures
