In my part of the world, that'd be a 'bluebird day' of duck hunting. I preferred snowy and overcast, keeps the birds low.

I remember shooting 5-stand at night, under the lights, when it was snowing. Burn barrel going to keep your fingers from going numb. Interesting, but I've been Floradized now, so no temps like that for me any more!

We had a New Years Day fun shoot, it was about 30 degrees. I shot 2 rounds of skeet with a 50 straight, and a round of trap, 22. I hadn't shot any trap targets for 2 years. For my skeet I shot the first round with my hundred year old 1897 Winchester with a poly choke on the end and the second round I shot my Beretta 682 with 20gauge tubes in. Trap I used my M12 trap gun, 1963 version.

i,ll bet you all had a good time, i did notice my coat interfered with my swing and timeing. eastbank.

Trap

I will be shooting this afternoon at 5 o'clock at the Staten Island Sportsmen's Club (NYC). The forecast temperature is 36 degrees with 5 mph wind. Clear skies. Anyone want to join me? Almost balmy compared to what some of you have been shooting in.
Pete

Looks like a good day. While I haven't shot any trap in the cold winter my son and I reguraly bring old Milsurps out. The heavy clothing helps with the recoil and the Mosins, especially the Finns, LOVE the snow and cold.;)

Shot today with a couple friends. I broke a 23 and 24 on the skeet range. My one friend who has only been shooting for a couple months broke a 19 on his second round. He was pretty happy as he had been running about 16 as his average. Other friend had a couple 21's. Nice day at 36 degrees and sunny.

Well, you won't forget that day. About a year ago we shot at night at our local range some 5 stand. We were the only fools out there. It was so windy that some of the clays would slow down and literally start going the opposite direction.

That's what happened yesterday (and on a lot of other occasions ); some stalled and went backwards, others nose-dived into the ground before you could shoot, and a few were blown right at you and you shot them in self defense! :D

Man I can remember when we had to tie 25#s of shot to our feet just so we wouldn't blow away while shooting trap in the wind out here, or when it was so hot your rounds would cook off before you had a chance to yell pull. I'll bet you think I'm kidding???

i,d love to shot at that range, looks set up very well. eastbank.

i shot three rounds Wednesday evening. Just me and two other guys. When I walked out to the trap range it was 33 degrees. There were two does feeding on the grassy verge next to the Trap house. They looked at me and walked off into the brush. Staten Island, New York City.
