Trying to decide on a fixed barrel .22.

The Ruger would be my choice from amongst the ones being discussed.

But, I feel I must sound a discordant note and say that if you are looking for an inexpensive .22 pistol, it doesn't get much more affordable than the Phoenix Arms HP22. Based on a friend's experience, it takes a couple hundred round to get broken-in and then it will last for about 2,000 rounds before the zamak frame cracks. The pistol comes with a lifetime warranty so it will get fixed for a nominal charge. If you don't want to wait for warranty service; you might find that after you've fired it a couple thousand times, you may just decide to spend another $150 and get a new one.

Nope....same crappy trigger and mag disconnect. They did put in a doohickey that shoots the magazine out when you push the release.

Buckmark has best stock trigger. The MKIII or IV can be made very good with a VQ kit, better than then stock Buckmark. Both should be reliable with SV quality ammo like CCI. I think the MKs are a little more tolerant of bad ammo, but even they struggle with crap like Golden Bullets. If you don't plan on changing the guts of the gun, get the Buckmark. If you like to tinker, get the MKIII or MKIV.

The MK guns can also very good with just the VQ sear, some set screws in the stock trigger to adjust out the pre and post travel, and a couple of other tricks. The parts cost is about 30 bucks 1492280547227619526612.jpg
