Just got back from the Tulsa gun show. 4000 tables. S&W had a display. Winchester was there.

Even saw Dale Robertson, the movie star. He was selling pics of himself.

Had some good stuff, of course. I happened to be looking for a mint 22 Diamondback w/6 inch barrel. There were several between $850 and $1200 but not truly mint.

I have never been to that show, so I wasn't prepared for how big it is. I had been walking around almost 4 hours and was about 3/4 the way through when I saw there was a whole second level.

I've never been beaten by a gun show before, but I left after only seeing half the stuff.

I try to get to at least one Tulsa show each year. Haven't made it since last spring - stayed home for my daughter's confirmation this time. It is one huge show. I have gotten some really great deals at that show and ammo prices are always good. It takes me about 6 hours to walk the whole show. I have never made it through twice. I have two friends there keeping me informed of the great deals they are finding via cellphone.:)

Just got back myself. Picked up a pair of 1911s. I didn't even try to look at everything.

 I was at a cramped gun show inside a national guard armory. I got done all the tables in under an hour. You guys are so lucky.

Once again, a superior extravaganza of all things gun related. For me the high point was meeting Paul Tibbets, pilot of the Enola Gay.

LaPierre was there as well, signing books.

Always worth the trip from anywhere. I am fortunate, my job has me in Tulsa in April and October. ;)

I live just a half hour away, and go to all of them. It hasn't always taken both levels of the building. Two or three years ago it was more tolerable, the aisles were much wider. Really looking at stuff is getting harder. There also used to be more area available to sit down for a while.

I always take every opportunity to whine and complain about how it's getting too crowded and too much non-gun and knife related stuff being allowed in. I always go anyway, I suppose I just don't have enough sense to stay away.

Great show!!!

It was just this side of unbearably hot! Seems the IPE building is having A/C issues.

I took my daughter & we had a great time. Came out without a thing!

Had a Garthwaite 38 Super Commander in my hands & let it go. Doh!

Talking to several dealers, they were selling (and buying) a bunch. A nice change from the usual grumpiness:
"All lookers, no buyers."

I tell ya, if the vendors are having a good show, then everyone is having a good show! It's contagious.

Met & visited with Bill Laughridge of Cylinder & Slide. What a personable & genuine fellow. Probably the highlight of the show for me.

Hope they get the A/C fixed, 'sposed to be upper 80's tomorrow!

Tulsa 2006

Just returned myself. Great to meet everyone...

He looked at his watch, "smoke 'em if you got 'em", just west of the objective. Looking at notes , checking the references , "everybody gets out, we leave nobody behind". Heads nodded as second smokes, lit up. One pulled a bottle of water from out his back jeans pocket, took a long pull...took another, "its a hot wind...".

He spied a young man he had not met, " trap grade SX1?"
"Why yes sir it is"
"May I?"
With the action held open by a zip tie, shouldered and admired, then shared with the rest of , some had lit up a third"

The SX1 handed back, as words, head nods and kudus exchanged.

Another long pull, from the water bottle from back jeans bottle.

Chris will take the lower and left, once we re-enter- others take the top, Jeremy will we take the left side starting at the BBQ , head east, cover that flank, and then split the grid and come back, one will stay here on the west side to cover and recon, the others will head ..., watching the grid viewing ... Meet up top of the hour as planned earlier...

In his peripheral vision he spied yet another 1911, Citori , the Krieghoff Double gun...that roaming landmark, the one in tight jeans, 1911 IWB, zip tied, cowboy hat, boots..."oops excuse me" - he said to the table just sitting there...

The child was just a tad bigger than the long box he was carrying, seems his Grandparents were watching his six, Grandpa had a Old 1911 in his wasteband, Grandma carrying a blue cardboard box, appeared to be a LNIB Model 10, from back when...

The parents - dad seemed to have a nice Citori, the mom watching her sons right flank with a plastic bag, smiles ...no those were not smiles, not grins either...those were faces of a successful mission...of successful missons to come...

The team members in which they had set out to find, found. Now to head back , and meeting up/ picking up with others as they made their way back...

Everybody made it out, no team member left behind.

"Smoke 'em if you got 'em...we took that objective, and ...."

After each show I ask myself why I went. Then I look at all the cool stuff I bought or played with.
Daryl Licht hit the nail on the head, though. There is very little room in the aisles, and virtually nowhere to sit for a spell without having to pay 4 bucks for a coke.
Myself, I got a nice deal on an M4Gery upper and saw a lot of other stuff I needed but could not afford.

I went Sunday afternoon. I didn't make it through everything, I never do. I did trade for a Marlin 1895, but the instant check system was down, so I couldn't take the gun home. I have to pick it up later this week. Kind of put a damper on the whole thing for me.

Daughter and 6 others went, wished the a.c. would have been working but had a great time. I thought the quality of the guns was off a little this year, just seemed that way. It is getting tight in the aisle etc. General Tibbetts was neat to meet. Blazed through the whole show, sold one, bought one sako, stopped at Don Pablo's, ate and hit the road... If you go to this show enough you start learning that most of the seller's keep the same spot, except the Kimber guy from Iowa didn't show up this year, why I bought the Sako. Every one should go at least once.

We came dragging in from Tulsa last night after an eleven hour drive, worn out but happy. It was more of a social event for me though. Chris and Bonnie (P95Carry) made an unbelievable trek from PA (via Denver) to Tulsa, and I was very happy to meet and visit with them. Yes I was at that west entrance with Chris, sm and my son in law Jeremy. The mission was to go back inside and round up Smoke Rizen and my brother Mike. We amazingly found them within a few minutes.

My granddaughter, who is not quite two, needed to meet her "Uncle Steve" and this happened as well, although Sadie had been traveling for a solid week with her parents and was overwhelmed with the whole thing. I will have a very special picture to post soon, probably in shotguns.

Brought home a little Stevens Favorite in 22lr. I've been wanting one for years so I got the best one I saw. On closer inspection after the show, I had picked a pretty good one, no buggered screws, about 50% finish. The bore looks really bad, but I'm hoping a good cleaning tonight will fix that.

The hit of the show actually happened in our hotel room Saturday night. We had SR's fresh smoked Alaskan salmon, Sandy's green chili burritos, my brother's homemade salsa and Mrs. SR's guacamole. There was not a better meal served in Tulsa that night.

Larry, I just got back from Pueblo. What a coincidence.

Visited the out-laws. But also saw Pike's Peak, Garden of the gods, seven falls, and Royal Gorge.

Man, you guys have some beautiful terrain.

Hey, I resemble that remark (living in the Flint Hills of Kansas - yes we have a few hills!).:cuss:

I've gone to every Wannemacher Arms show for the past 2 years (I live in Tulsa). And every year I only get to see about half of whats out there.

I only bought some .224 bullets for reloading and a can of Albanian 7.62x54R ammo though.

I went to the Tulsa show starting at noon Friday and was there Saturday and Sunday as well. I would get there by 7:30 am and stay until closing. I still didn't see all of the show. I am very slow going thru the show because I always think I am going to miss something. I guess you could make the show in a day if you just breeze by half of the vendors. My wife usually sits at the table but I like to cruise the show.
I had a great time!

I think Friday is only for vendors and those with a source. It might be worth it to get a table just for the perks though if enough people split it. But I'm sure there are limits to the number of vendors per table.

Aren't tables around $500? That ruins that idea unless you had a lot of stuff you were wanting to sell.

$50 for Friday is almost worth it over fighting the crowds; only problem is some dealers don't show until Saturday.

$100 wouldn't be bad at all for 2 people especially if you had a few guns you were wanting to sell. Admission for 3 days is $70 if the $50 on Friday is right. You would have a central meetup point for your friends and a place to rest your heels for a while. Now its just finding 3 days to spend at the gunshow.

As Larry and so many other stated it was a great show, and a fantastic social event. I had a couple things in mind, but found no new additions to the safe. The only purchase was an extention to my NRA membership($25 for a year, and admitance to the show, great deal). When I was raising kids it seemed I could never justify spending the money for a life membership, though I've purchased at least 1 it seems,a year or three at a time. I'm now paid up until 2010. Now I'm getting to the age where I hope I haven't purchased a life membership!
