I think this is a bad idea. Why not just have a range where you can do shots between your shots?

It's a liquor store. It's a crime to consume alcohol on the premise.

So what then exactly is the problem that would be any different from any other gun store?

Same thing I said a year and a half ago in this thread;

Both items are legal to sell. If these were 2 stores next door to each other no one would say anything. All of a sudden they are in the same building and it's a disaster? That's just silly.

Think people, think.

There's nothing in this photo or this business that is any more dangerous than a liquor store and gun shop in different buildings.
Other than negative perception, you're absolutely right.

And you wonder why we have so many problems with the anti-gun crowd?!
What he's referrring to is negative perception. :)

The problem is it's a joke that not everyone will get. Some will view it as irresponsibility. I don't, but some will.

Unfortunately, some of the voting population won't. That weds us to responsible behavior, despite my natural inclination to the opposite.

Oh yes, you are completely correct.

The problem I have with it is where do we draw the line in being "politically correct" with these people?

Today we give in on putting a gun store and liquor store in the same building, tomorrow what will it be that makes them "upset". It won't ever end, they will always find something to be upset about.

there fixed that for ya.

That is the saddest truth in America, if not the world. we live in a world were the average person, has given over their decision making process with regard to the overwelming majority of issues, both societal and personal, to those who by definition are in, or are seeking Power and control over them in some manner. can't remember where I first heard it but one of my favorite quotes on human nature was along the lines of, "Most of humanity is born with a design flaw, an overwhelming tendency to bend at the Knees in the face of authority".

I abhor the need to be aware of and at times work around the perceptions of those who oppose our rights (2A and otherwise). but it is a fact of life and some times it's just flat easier to make small changes (Ex: altering the signage slightly) to avoid possible storms of rhetoric and BS.

how is this legal and open carry not? and do things like this help the cause or not? or is a moment of sophmoric humor more important?

The only thing I would change is to state on the sign, "anti-gun folks pay double for the booze, and get a discount on guns".

we have this in ohio as well. a place called whitlatch bait & tackle, a drive thru that sells guns. know for a fact i have seen a guy who already had the paperwork done pick his new 870 up out of the drive thru.

It is very bad for the perception of gunowners. It is hard to not be seen as a "redneck" or some other offensive term. I am not from teh country and I dress more "urban" so I get labeled as a gangbanger. While there is nothing wrong with people choosing to engage in politically incorrect behavior or dressing how they will, sometimes it is hard to defend our culture when people do things like this.

Most people who are going to see the wrong in this are probably not CCW holders and don't realize that drinking while carrying is not legal in your state. People are going to jump to the obvious conclusion (though it is incorrect) that it is ok to drink and shoot. This is the sad truth and makes it hard for us to appear to be responsible people with our guns and our booze.

How is this different from a good number of Wal-Marts? They sell alcohol (beer, wine, liquor) and guns in the same stores.

Didn't think of that! Now, if only they'd get a decent sign out front.:what:

Nothing wrong with driving and alcohol as long as the two don't mix at the same time

Same is true with guns and alcohol, choose to indulge one or the other, never both at the same time.

I drink and shoot. There's nothing wrong with knowing your limits for both and indulging safely.

Baby-proofing the world is no way to live.
