What did you shoot today?

Today was pistol day. Okay, so I fired a few shots from the AR to switch from a carbine to an H2 buffer, but that took 30 seconds. Found a SD load for my M&P 40 to replace my 10-year-old  carry ammo. Burned up the old stuff, all went bang. Worked through a test of lead 115 for the Shadow 2, found a light load that cycles and is accurate, about half the felt recoil of factory. Then I played with the M9, man, I love that Beretta. Wife shot 1/2 size silhouette steel at 20 yards with her Shield Plus, best she has ever shot it, especially considering it has been a few months. Of course, she went to her Mom's as soon as we got home, leaving me to clean her's too...

#1son was trying out his new RMR sight on his ex-waterfowl-soon-to-be-turkey shotgun.
I decided to shoot both of my turkey guns:
The H&R 12ga 3" Pardner
The 870 Supermag 3Ā½ inch shoulder puncher/middle finger smasher.

I was just shooting to confirm poa/poi with some old ammo that needed shot or pitched.
No wonder I like the little H&R so much....it shoots a sweet pattern.

When I was a kid I lived near the Municipal Golf Course at Washington/Decatur. (Changed the name to Las Vegas Golf Club decades ago.)

Dad and I would shoot at a now long-removed garbage transfer station just West of what is now Rainbow Rd/Decatur.

Things have changed in the valley juuuust a little bit since then. šŸ¤£

Looks like a nice day of out shooting at a good looking shooting range.

Stay safe.

Today was .22 day I guess.

I took out my Glock 44, CZ 455 and, for the first time in ages, my old Remington 581.

I usually use it with Aguila Super Colibri ammo to purge the yard of lawn-wrecking vermin. Today it got fed Browning HP (yuk) CCI Mini Mag, and Norma TAC-22.

That plain-Jane old rifle shoots pretty darn well. :D

Stay safe.

Yes the Las Vegas Valley has changed a little bit LOL šŸ˜‚ in the 19 years Iā€™ve been here WOW has it changed. I moved here for work that job fell through but had another job 5 days later for the largest food company in the country retired out of there after 15 years that was 4 years ago. It was a very nice day when I took those pictures at the club I belong to we have 11 different ranges and over 4000 members I belong to Desert Sportsman Rifle and Pistol Club itā€™s been around since 1955.

Time to trade it. For a nickle revolver?

we have a mag ban in Washington. Not going to stay here forever but itā€™s all I got for a limited gun!

Bolt action Ruger and an autoloader Ruger. I seem to be stuck on. If Hornady would sell some SRP brass I could keep it up but LR primers supply is below my comfort zone. Where oh where did Remington go. Their ammo had small primers also

PS. Guess what cartridge

.223!

Today; exactly like this, the same "Classic GI" PTR-91. Just a random video here. The PTR handguards are different than on the military G3 and HK-91, the German civilian semi-auto version.
The original type (just a single piece of Plastic!? :scrutiny: ) sells for $200 or so iirc.
You would recognize it on the HK-91 (& bipods were standard on these) used by Val Kilmer on the drive-in movie roof in "Heat". That segment should still be on Youtube. Maybe HK has a patent on it and PTR doesn't have permission to duplicate them.

Shooting in this link begins after 4:05. Never /baby' the charging lever. Slap it... to allow full acceleration to push the bolt & carrier (ie the pair of tiny rollers) into battery. Don't be afraid to slap/knock it.

Here is the original select-fire version which was used by about 60 countries. This soldier (Marine?) was probably in Iraq trying an Iranian G3, produced of course with German-supplied HK tooling.

Like. Like.

Feddersen barrel 02 27 24.jpg
Made it to the range with my Feddersen Ruger 10/22 with a few different loads.

My friend insisted that I try his rifle rest. I don't like it but I amused him and shot all my 50 yard groups with it. I averaged just over 1/2 inch C - C but was 6 inches left snd only 5 - 10 MPH winds. Ran out of adjustments so I shimmed the scope and will try again next week.

I'm now using a Simmons 6 X 18 scope instead of the 6 X 34. Had to give that back with previous build. This scope is clearer but not as powerful. I'll get use to it.

Took out two match barreled ARs - Ranier Ultramatch and a budget Ballistic Advantage. Re-zeroed for 77 gr 5.56. Too windy for groups, but both did well for the conditions.

Tried out a Griffin Explorr taper mount blast deflector on my CMMG Banshee - 10ā€ 7.62.x39. Good enough at reducing felt concussion that Iā€™m going to skip the heavy .30 cal suppressor.

Nothing special: 2nd gen Glock 17, S&W Model 17-3 (makes me look like I can shoot pretty well) and 2nd outing for KelTec P 17 that i am trying to like. In all fairness the KelTec caught an empty on the way out twice, same rate as either of my Ruger MKII's, due to insufficient powder charges in bulk box Federal plated HV HP's. Joe

Savage Mark II FV-SR
CZ TSO
Ruger Wrangler
PSA AR
Rossi Break Action 22lr (410)

My son did most of the shooting, I was supervising. Shot CCI Mini Mag 36 gr and bulk Remington Thunderbolt. That Savage was a tack-driver, especially with the CCI ammo.
The Rossi had a couple of light primer strikes, but those same rounds fired in the Wrangler. It may be time to disassemble and clean the internal thoroughly.

The TSO and the PSA were fun and accurate as usual. Overall, a fun time at the range. Should have taken some pictures, but we were too busy shooting :)
