I keep my S&W 915 handy and love the 14 rd. magazine. I would not have time to put in my contacts if someone was foolish enough to break in so I might have to fill the hall with lead. If I was on the offensive I would deffinitly use my Rock Island 1911 .45 for its sheer power and commanding BOOM.

Kimber Stainless TLE II with 10rd magazine, but soon to be replaced by my new Kimber Warrior 
Sig 220 with night sights, loaded with 230 gr hollowpoints and a Streamlight attached is on the nightstand. Wilson Scattergun Tech 870 loaded with Remington "Reduced recoil" buckshot (my nod to overpenetration) under the bed. Both have lights mounted on them. Yes, I am somewhat afraid of the dark...

I have had to grab it to check out things going bump and there is something very reassuring about that heavy steel in my hand. Not looking forward to the muzzle flash in a dark hallway. Should I shut my eyes and just squeeze the trigger?!?! JUST KIDDING.

KI.W. and Mp7, I just ran across the various caustic comments you two have directed at me. I said it's wonderful that folks in Finland have no reason to fear home invasions. Why was that cause to start with the name-calling and slurs directed at me?
Name-calling, like cursing, is a crutch for the conversational cripple.
First off, get your history facts straight. My bedside gun may have been designed during the Nazi regime but it's actually a fairly recent Walther product. Maybe built by some Nazi's grandchild?
My "45Broomhandle" moniker actually refers to a CHINESE SHANSEI I own (designed after the C96, but made in .45acp). And, the original German C-96 broomhandles were designed PRIOR to WW II. My gun is neither German OR Mauser. Get your facts straight!
Worse than the very childish name-calling, you attack my beliefs and education? I'm neither a Democrat OR a Socialist. And, be it good or bad, I'm NOT a product of the Florida school system. I was over 60 when my company transfered me here. Get your facts straight!

Beretta 92FS on my side, Corbon 115 gr. +P with extra clips and Maglight flashlight. Keltec PF9 with Black Talons on the wifes' side. S&W 66 with Corbon 125 gr +P within 6 ft of bed as a backup althought I don't look forward to the muzzleflash.
