What have you done in the reloading room today

Loaded 150 158gr Xtreme RNFP over 4.3grains HP-38 using Winn SPP then primed 50 with Servicios & Aventuras SPP. Then loaded exactly the same as the previous 150 for comparison at the range tomorrow. I bought the SA(Argentina) primers when domestic primers were hard to find and expensive. Edit: S&A app worked perfectly & I noticed no difference between the two.

Sounds delicious!
Thanks. I didn’t shoot the Orange Roughy though. I do have a wild boar in mushroom risotto dish that uses pigs I shot using handloads. Maybe I will make it soon. Venison is better au Poivre with candied carrots, pappardelle in brown gravy and greens steamed in a sour brine. Flavor bomb and all local.
It tastes so much better when you harvest game live. And especially when you use handloaded ammo. 😁

I bet it does.

Roast haunch of boar and various venison dishes are served at an Alsatian place nearby. I've tried them all and they're fine but seeing wild pigs running around in the wild down in your neck of the woods several years ago and seeing deer running through my yard eating my garden, just ruins my appetite. I don't feel the same about fresh fish however!

Over here hammering away the 6.6 grain loads of competition with a 180 that my dad made.... much to hot for my liking...View attachment 1191140View attachment 1191141
Do you plan to pool the powder into a can and re use it with a lower charge?
We started doing something similar with some reman 5.56 that would refuse to fire in my SBR and dads rifle. We found out the cases weren't full sized and probably only neck sized so we pulled the bullets and kept the powder and check the weight on a few and averaged it out and full sized them and put the averaged out powder back in and we need to test them out but haven't gotten a chance to.

So I think I messed my Lee 223 die up last time I used it cause I had a VERY stuck case and I think I ruined the neck stem on it by cutting the case off of it. So I just now ordered a RCBS 223 small base die from Amazon to see how that works. And then once I get that I'll contact Lee about getting a new stem for the die.

Edit a new Expander Decaping rod is only 3 bucks! So I ordered that just now. Screenshot_20240124_181606_Chrome.jpg

Ok I got the good ol H110 out and am going to use up the 80 190gr SubX bullets we have to see just how good the 9.6gr load does for a longer string instead of 20 rounds. I always laugh when I see these higher weight 30cal bullets next to the 300blk cases. 220gr SMKs are even longer...

I have an 8lber of competition and believe it is only appropriate in 45acp and plinking 38s. Trying to make power with that fast of a powder is nonsensical..... that's just me.

When dealing with a stuck case Lee is far superior. Drive the case out and use a pipe cutter to remove the neck.... fast and easy...

Got my .22 cal bullet feeder die packaged up for it's trip back to Lee. Works great with bullets that feed with the balls in the lower hole, not so much in the top hole. The top holes are drilled about .011" deeper, so I'm wondering if that's the problem.

After that I ran a "test run" of TAC/75bthps on the six pack pro. Went great other than the 2 times I forgot to put a bullet in before running it into the seating die:p. I've been very impressed with the priming system and the auto drum! Out of curiosity I wanted to see what my 24.0gr TAC setting in the auto drum would drop with AR Plus(62gr FMJ powder, the settings were close). It dropped a pretty consistent 23.7gr, which is perfect for the load I like, being anywhere between 23.5&24.0gr.

Now on to .300 blackout subs once I figure my load out. I'm thinking I'm going to take the advice of @45/30-06OKIE and stick to the 9.0gr N110 load that was right at 1000fps and ran great.

Nice we use 9.6 of H110 and it's less than 1k closer to 900 I think if I recall correctly. We will have to re check that. His SBR is like an 8in barrel. Listed velocity of 1050fps is with a 16in barrel from Hodgdon. (With 190gr SubX bullets that is)

Ditto

All I did was crawl around under the bench putting together measurements for the bottom shelf… me poor knees are really not liking me right now… sigh…

Posted earlier about reloading mixed 9mm range brass & had issues with neck tension that only occurred on Blazer brass. Had been using a 3 die set & have now added an separate factory crimp die & an undersized die that I wasn’t aware of until it was suggested-thanks
Ran a few Blazer & a few other head stamps through using the new dies & all came out looking good.

I like the undersized die too. Had to stop using it recently for a couple of reasons including because I bought some .356" bullets vs .355". They just didn't like the smaller sized die but I'll go back when the larger bullets run out. Also, I wasn't expanding with smaller bullets. Made for a nice firm seat.

I tried to run without expanding, and I never could make it work. Granted, I was using some thin jacket bullets. But I still crushed a couple of cases.

I never crushed cases--I slightly chamfer them all. And I attribute success to Xtreme plated bullets and Redding competition seater which holds bullet straight.

Only tried with 9mm 115RN & 45acp 230gr RN & 200 SWC plated. They are really slippery and the bevel base may help.

Didn't work at ALL with Berry's in either caliber. I think plating is thinner and less slippery, but not based on anything scientific. But after trashing about a dozen bullets between the two calibers, I quit trying. (Have too many other experiments going on to try to figure it out:))
