You can get a canik tp9 and stingray and be around $650. Two good guns almost in that price range.

My vote goes to the $519.00 CZ 75B with the Omega trigger that I handled last night. This trigger out of the box is as good the trigger on my own 75B after a 1,200 round break-in. What's your choice?
I traded my Walther PPQ for a CZ-75B. No regrets.

You can't go wrong with a Beretta M9 or 92. Stupid reliable, stupid accurate, points like your finger, the slide feels like its on ball bearings. One of the coolest guns out there.

If I thought there was one best 9mm I'd prolly only have one 9mm, as is I have 8 because there are plenty of great 9mms out there. Some have features that some prefer and some have features that some don't like.
Most have strengths and weaknesses Beretta, CZ, Glock, Springfields, Smith, Ruger, Walther and a few others all make reliable accurate 9mms in that price range.

I have found that most all popular brand 9mm are good pistol. The round itself feeds reliably in most all of the guns. It just comes down to what fits your hand and what kind of trigger you like. My favorite 2 are a gen 4 Glock 17 and a CZ p-01. If I carry I use a Shield.

As to the Glock gen 3, I like the gen 4 better just because of the smaller grip. It doesn't do anything better it just fits me better.

I personally like the full size CZ BD Police with the pre-B a close second at this point. I need to have the trigger replace on the PCR as it's serrated instead of a smooth combat trigger. Why CZ would put a target trigger on a defensive pistol is beyond me! :what:

I don't know if there is a "best" in the under 600 dollar range. Most of the name brands are extremely good handguns. I like to take a feel of a handgun before buying. How does it feel to you. My favorite pistol is no longer made. It is a Star M30 Starfire. Was made in the Basque country part of Spain. I think it remains a sidearm for the Spanish military. It is all steel, a little heavy, not beautiful or beautifully finished but is accurate and in the thousands of rds I have run thru mine it has never hiccupped. Any bullet type feeds right in and ejection is strong at about 4 o'clock.

We can? Really? I haven't seen them out anywhere yet, where'd you see em? A new HK for under $600? Amazing if true!

hkpro
one guy has/had a group buy... $550 shipped for the 2-mag std sights.
upcharges for factory installed night sights or 3-mag LE kit.
another is retail selling for $594+$5.50sh
both are expecting shipments in in July.

I'm hardly an expert on the SR series, but I read on another board that they dropped the loaded chamber indicater ans went with fixed sights.

Did we ever establish what makes it best?

Accuracy?
Build Quality?
Build Materials?
Country of origin?
Reliability?
Size?

Everything combined???

My preference is clear, considering my ID, but I have to say I have Arcus 98DA and this is one in not worth than my CZ, great shooter eats any cheap ammo and for the price of less than $300 ???

Arcus 98DAC two tone has had my eye for a while now.
At the price there is no reason I wouldn't have one by now. I'm slacking.

One that I came across the other day is the FKM pistol.

If a cheap defense pistol is what you want. I was pretty impress with the fit and finish for the price as well as the ergonomics.

It comes in two variance - Fast action (Single actions) or Double Action Only (DAO).
