What is the best Taurus out there?

Had a 90s vintage PT-92. Regret selling it. It never jammed, was accurate and fun to shoot. Wish I still had it!

The PT-92 Series and the Mil. Pro Series are tough to beat. I own both and they are on par with any other gun I've ever shot, and thats a healthy list including amost every major manufacturer

+ for JR47

Every time I hear a complaint about a Tuarus somebody chimes in "they are junk." When somebody complains that their LCP only feeds FMJ you hear, "Ruger will fix it, just send it back."

It's like owning a Range Rover. Every time it breaks down the owner says "it is a precision tuned machine. It must have been the gas at that last station."

When somebody's Chevrolet Trail Blazer breaks down every body says, "what do you expect it is a piece of junk. You should have saved up and bought a _____."

It doesn't matter that Chevy out does Range Rover in long term reliability reports and surveys every year. People see the dollar signs and lose there objectivity.

I have carried two Taurus revolvers over the years. I would trust them. I have also carried a Walther PPK/S that failed to feed anything but FMJ. It also bit my hand unless I gripped it low. Then it wouldn't eject correctly.

mostly, I think, older models, model and vintage specific
model 99 in 9mm (predecessor of their 92, bought mine NIB)
old model 66 in 357 (bought mine used, but nice)
model 96 (k-17 rimfire clone, bought NIB)

current versions, their model 85 38sp seems to get good reviews, buddy has one, nice gun
but I am leery of most of their other current production

Uh-huh. Actually the PT99 is the PT92 equipped with adjustable sights. It has been in steady production since the 1980s.

I am considering a PT24/7, 2.85", in 40 cal. Anybody own one or have something good to say? I want it for cc, its a bit heavy, but the size is right. thanks.

I've had a Taurus 66, the wife has a 617 and a 1911... they all worked great... the PT1911 is amazing for the price... the 617 is pretty good too. I had an 85 that I carried for a while with a cripdraw set up... also great.

Sold it and used the proceeds to buy an older model 442 for 150 bucks from a friend... shouldve kept the 85 and bought the 442...

I think Taurus is fine...

I've had issues with 3 different Keltecs though. a P3AT that wouldnt work past 3 rounds... a p32 that rimlocked with everything... and another p32 that had the same issue... til i put it in a Holdster.

The keltec sub2k I had was awesome, but sold it...

That said, 4 for 4 with Taurus on the positive side, vs. 1 for 4 Keltec...

The best Taurus is the one left on the dealer's shelf. I have had quite a few bad experiences with their products...won't buy one again. Good to hear that others are satisfied with theirs though.

Hahahaha I love the taurus haters I really do
"the one left in the glass at the shop" etc
seriously I have never had problem one with either of my taurus products and I would stake dollars for dead badguys if someone broke in my house my PT1911 would perforate as expected everytime

not all of us can afford name brand guns (that fail alot too btw) like colt and wilson

^yep, and taurus is a name brand, i think all the taurus haters own a kimber 1911 and hate the fact that the PT1911 out performs the kimber out of the box. lol

No, not so. In my case I WAS a long time Taurus owner. Owner of scopes and three other excellent Taurus handguns. But this current experiance with a NEW 941 has now made me a "Taurus Distruster".

No more from me.

Even thier repairmen appear to be "lacking".

My 3 year old PT1911 with a couple thousand rounds through it has been just perfect, although I wish the frame/slide fit was a little tighter.

My 25+ year old model 83 revolver has never had a hiccup either.

I'm not a Taurus fan nor a Taurus hater, but I am satisfied with the two I have.

Definitely not so. I too have owned many Tauri and my first handgun, purchased almost 20 years ago, was a model 669 SS .357 with a 6 inch barrel.
It was a good revolver but I wanted something with better fit and finish and moved over to S&W and Ruger products. Currently my favorite range/carry pistol is a Ruger P95 that I am in love with for numerous reasons I have described elsewhere and wish not to bore you. If you are happy with your T. then enjoy, just don't expect everyone to be in love with the product you have chosen. Taurus has a spotty track record that can be verified by many shooters.
