What is the last gun that you bought?

Another FAL, from an all-Austrian Steyr StG (= 'Sturmgewehr') 🇦🇹 kit built on an Imbel, Brazilian 🇧🇷 upper receiver; assembled/tested by Mark Graham of ARS / Arizona Response Systems. He puts a small stamp underneath receivers when he builds a gun. It's Nice to know if, or whether a rifle was built by a very skilled specialist.

This rifle sat for multiple days on a trading forum of another gun website. Because these all-matching Austrian kits were < $200 circa 2004, Mark sometimes (only at that time) force-matched the parts to a receiver.😉

That "force-match" zaps the collector value, but having a rifle with 100% milsurp parts (except for the upper) from a single country is fine with me, along with its assembly by possibly the best FAL smith is, for those of us who are Not builders or repairers, is the largest factor….

The flash hider on mine is similar to the shorter version which sometimes was used by the 🇦🇹 Austrian Bundesheer, and is much shorter than the standard depicted here.

I heartily approve. I love my FAL.

Picked up a lightly used S&W 438 for $300.
That is a KILLER of a deal. I would not have left that one in the GS either. Yeah, it's got the lock but for the price it is a go. And the stocks are sweet too. Besides, I read that the guns that had problems with the lock were big calibers. Not likely to ever have issues with the .38 Special and the lock. Nice thing is you can cock this one for a single action shot, though I wonder how safe that is. With that tiny nub it could easily slip out from under your finger?

Just picked this up today. I started a thread a while back to ask members their preference on a Western style 45 LC revolver. I am a huge Western fan, I have a large Western movies and TV DVD collection, I own and ride a horse, I dress Western some of the time (I don't technically live "In The West" so you have to be conservative about looking like you are home on the range) and I have always wanted to shoot and reload 45 LC. It's about time I finally acted on this. It was long overdue.

This Pietta 1873 Great Western II is what I settled on. 45 LC with an extra convertible 45 ACP cylinder. That's good because I have quite a bit of 45 ACP components on my bench that I would like to start using again since I sold my last 1911 Colt 20 years ago.

Now I have to look for a Western holster for it.

Reloading some more 45 LC tomorrow morning, then a trip to the gun range.

I will probably never buy a Canick for myself, but I do appreciate how they have come on strong with a solid value for the dollar with damned good reliability. I have friends that are running them in USPSA, and they are proving out to be a really solid and reliable pistol on par with guns that cost a lot more. Good pick in my not so humble opinion.

Speaking of Caniks, their Taran Tactical Model is due to be released in a few days. It actually looks pretty cool. For a little under two grand, you too can own one. Who knew?
