Went to a gun show this weekend. It sucked. Stopped by Academy on the way home. They had these on sale & gave me an extra 10% off for being a veteran. Price was so low, it was like buying a few boxes of ammo. So I bought two of them.

A local shop had a S&W M&P40, full sized, 4.25" barrel. 1.0 version, 2 15rd mags. It's in excellent shape and was priced at $350. It seemed like alot of gun for the money. Aim Surplus has used 15rd S&W mags for sale for just $9.99 right now so I ordered a couple to go with this.

Last Thursday I traded for this 2005 Ruger New Vaquero in 45 Colt. It is in excellent condition and although the picture doesn't show it the bluing is completely intact and not blemished. I plan on changing that.

Is it safe to shoot 40 S&W out of a 10mm ? Is there danger of breaking the extractor? I have a G20, 29, and 40 but never used anything but 10mm in them.

It's possible, but not recommended. The case is headspaced by the extractor, as you've figured out, but if the round feeds and the extractor for some reason doesn't hold it, you'll get a failure to fire and then no extraction, with a complete round stuck in the chamber, requiring unloading, disassembly and poking something down the barrel to push the cartridge back. If the gun isn't specifically chambered for a certain cartridge, best practice is not to use it.

My latest purchase is a S&W Model 27-2, made in 1977. Got the case, tools and papers with it. Hardly a turn line on it, don't think it's ever been fired more than a few times.

Went to Shoot Point Blank in Columbus on Wednesday last for some range time with my buddies and afterwards whilst browsing the fire arms cases spotted this new in box Springfield Armory Ronin 5" .45ACP, saw the price (almost had a seizure in a good way), handed the clerk a deposit and said "I'll be back Saturday. Came home with me today (photos taken in natural light and that's why it looks like streaking). Nice thing about dealing with them was the fact that they took my DL and CHL and I was in and out in 10 minutes. BTW, I've always been a fan of the movie, hence the name really caught my eye when I first saw it some time ago.

But then went back an hour later and it followed me home.
