What is the last gun that you bought?

Picked up a 1964-vintage nickeled 28-2 off GB.

Original Magna grips were a bit scarred, the finish was dull and cloudy, and there were a pair of pimp-tastic pearl grips in the box with it.
Great find and useful revolver - even if a bit large for concealed carry. Those pearl grips might suit one's mood at times, and a T-grip helps much when shooting.

A couple of hours with some Mother's Polish, some new wood...and it looks much better...
Without question, sir. My hearty congratulations.

I keep saying I'm almost finished. But, those collectables keep intruding.
At the Fremont, NE (E. V. R. C) gunshow on 19 Feb I found a 1891 Mauser Argentine Carbine in pretty good condition. It has been drilled and tapped for scope mounts. I took the bases off and now have to fill in the holes. The stock and metal work (other than as noted) are unmolested. Nice bit for my WW1 (contemporaneous) collection. (No picture yet.)

Also, I added to my collection of pre-WW2 designed .25 ACP pistols with an Fabrique Nationale M1906 (same as the Colt 1908).

Wear is obvious, and I'm still cleaning it gently. Haven't shot it yet to compare muzzle velocity. As yet, this has not been added to my concealed carry cadre.

Easy way to do that, take screws that fit the holes and cut them off as close as possible. Then grind/sand them down flush to the receiver. Add some red Loctite if you really want them to stay in for the long term. Saves on welding such a small area.

Got myself a PSA Dagger. Should be at my LGS before the weekend hits.

Thanks, sounds good. (I have a connection to a machinist AND a 'tool and die' maker.)

Good score. Happy shooting.

A 1916 Webley Mk VI in .455", which the prior owner said a prior owner said, "It came out of New Zealand well after WW2." It's got a lot of pitting on the frame and outside of the barrel, but the barrel interior seems fine; I suspect it got a quick refinish by an arsenal long after the pitting. It needs some work on the timing, and the cylinder latch or cam aren't quite working well together. But: never shaved for .45 ACP, hooray.

I posted deals for the Taurus G2C, figured I better take advantage of one of them........ Just came in today.

As everyone states the trigger leaves a lot to be desired but there are upgrades, might do one. Also noticed I have to cock my wrist down about a quarter inch to get a proper sight picture. The mag release is aggressive which in my mind is a good thing, look forward to shooting it.

For those who are unfamiliar with the G2C here it is face to face with my Polish P64.

Okay, I've got to stop now.......... I've gone crazy over the last year and a half.

This will be the last purchase for a long while.

Always wanted a 1911 in .45 caliber and my LGS had a used Rock Island 1911 GI model, the gave it to me for $400. Came with two Wilson Combat magazines, the grips are a little beat up but they're wood and easily refinished, no noticeable holster wear and the bore is excellent.

I shouldn't Look at anything 1911 without adult supervision. She who must be obeyed said so. Really a nice 1911, enjoy it and a little sanding and some 0000 steel wool plus a little oil and those grips will compliment the gun. Enjoy it!

Already done with the sanding and wooling, added the first coat of Lin-Speed oil yesterday.

When done a pic would be sweet since there will be before and after. :)

Unfortunately I only took the one side before picture, it was the most beat up side.

Here they are refinished. Note that using polyurethane or varnish provides a layered on protection, boiled linseed oil gets into the pores and hardens providing deep protection to the wood.

Another PTR: this time, in the original G3 configuration.

Brief review of the PTR 91 (The G3 for the every-day dude) - YouTube Note: This "GI" model >> is Not the "GIR" << etc. Different. Be very specific when you compare models as a shopper.

Secret: This "GI" reviewer/demonstrator is in San Antonio.
People often talk about the muscle needed for the charging handle.

A friend who grew up in Essen Germany has never used any type of HK gun.
On Sunday during his First time charging my new PTR A3SK, he didn't Say a Word, never complained a bit.;)
