What is the last gun that you bought?

6906

I carried one 30 years ago as a rookie as an off-duty companion to my 5946 duty gun. I've been casually looking for one to satisfy my nostalgia but didn't want to pay the going rate for 3rd Gen. Smiths in good shape. Was able to snag this one for $300.

Already have a new set of grips and Wolff springs on the way to spruce it up and a couple of extra magazines ordered.

Nice!

Think those are property numbers on the RH side? Might have been a Dept. Issue gun itself in a former life.

Not sure...I wondered about those. My old 6906 was an earlier version (stainless trigger/hammer rather than the MIM parts of the last models) and didn't have those. I thought maybe they were production numbers (ala S&W revolvers) to keep parts together during their trip down the production line. I searched images of 6906's and noticed on the later models that some have the numbers (all the ones I saw with the numbers started with either A or C), while some don't.

Never in a million years did I think I’d ever buy a 17HMR … but as the arthritis in my shoulder has become worse, lite recoil rifles have become a necessity.
I saw this Savage 93R17, in a Boyd’s stock ant Walmart and that old itch hit me, and it came home with me.

I got it home, it came with the inexpensive Weaver 3-9x40 scope, accu-trigger & heavy threaded barrel … the scope base needed tightening, I ran a bore snake down it. It was a few days before I got to the range, I picked up a box of CCI Varmint and headed to the range even though the actual temp was 104 degrees … I didn’t want to wait any longer. Although I’m used to shooting at 100 yards, I shot this little round at 25 & 50 yards and put 5 rounds in one hole the size of a dime … it made me happy. Next time I’ll reach out to 100yards and hopefully it’ll be cooler!
