What is the most Under Valued /Over Valued Gun?

SVT-40's go for over A THOUSAND DOLLARS! Those things are cruder than an SKS, prone to breakage if you're not careful, and usually Finn caputured mix-masters.

That said, I'd like to own one, but it is definitely a "shooters'" market no longer

The most undervalued are the large frame EAA Witness ELite model pistols.

The most overvalued are a whole bunch of production 1911's pretending to be customs for over $3k.

I would have to say that anything that is not "standard" seems to be very undervalued as far as manufacturers are concerned (not worth their time to build a gun in that caliber) but overvalued price-wise. I'd be interested to see more manufacturers build 5.7x28mm pistols

Good point Skribs, why hasn't anyone chimed in about how the Five-seveN is an overpriced toy? ;) I can't believe that jab was aimed at Glock first :D

I agree that the world needs more guns in 5.7x28 (and 7.62tok, my other favorite cartridge) more than it needs yet-another 1911 clone. It really is annoying how "critical mass" based the gun industry is;

Consumer: "I won't buy until it's already tested, proven, cheap, and plentiful"
Maker: "I won't make 'em until it's guaranteed marketable for the next 30yrs"

Sounds like both sides are being a bit cautious and unreasonable, no? :scrutiny:

With past examples like Coonan and Mateba, it's no wonder two-thirds of the market is dominated by the same 10 guns (and 99% by the same set of three clones).

I would say the most overpriced gun is anything Glock. Never understood the fascination or pseudo-orgasm the fan boys have over them.

Underpriced and undervalued would probably be the Sig P2022 line. Great pistols for around $400 in most places.

Over Valued .... anything full auto ... unless I can buy an H&K UMP for around $1,000 out the door.

Over
Authentic 1911s. They're not that rare. I suspect it's the most plentiful surplus handgun at gunshows.
Colt Python. Nobody seems to shoot these things. I've never ever seen one at a range.
H&K rifles and pistols.
New Sako rifles.
Benelli shotguns.
AKs. $1k for an AK. Pffft.
Galil. Mediocre rifle that has a very undeserved reputation.
FN57. Straight blow back pistol for $1k.
PS90.
SCAR

I know the Kimber's, Combat Wilson's, Baer's are all over priced. I have and still own some of these and when you come right down to the side by side comparison to, let's say a Rock Island, what possibly could be $2000+ difference.

Underated is probably the Ruger's. They are as well made as any of the one's mentioned above. But I'm glad of it or I would not have the one's I do.

Exactly! The cycle continues.

Most guns that is being sold second hand, other than unique custom or hard to find. Are over.
Under are very few, most revolvers not made by S&W are underpriced, people don't shoot them as much anymore. I read the other day that most new shooters never even fired one.

I haven't read that anywhere but I agree. Everyone carries a semi-auto or the really popular revolvers (like the J-frame). I'm used to semis and it is what I own but I know enough about guns to see the usefulness of revolvers. I have my eye on a .357 snub nose when I find one for a good price.

My Walther would be my main pick based on what I have now. If I had a 30-30 or 30-06 hunting rifle that would be my main go to firearm. Another purchase to look forward to. The rifles I used to hunt deer with back home are too big for the south scrawny deer.

Oh, yer killin' me with this thread!

Over:
Colt Python...I own one and I shoot it but I take good care of it, still have the original box and I've seen lesser specimens running nearly $2000 at gun shows. What the hey???

Colt Diamondback...I own one, and (ditto the above) andI've seen them going for $1100 at gun shows, which is insanity. They're a .38 Special, fer cryin' out loud! They're a good .38 Special, and a classic profile, but still a .38 Special.

Some vintage Colt Commanders...I've seen absolute beaters at gun shows that the owners must think are NIB and gold plated, considering the prices being asked.

Walther PPK...never owned one but there are some really good specimens, but unfortunately, there must be a supply and demand problem. Unless you're a collector and have a Nazi war model, they're pretty common but some of the used ones fetch horrid prices and others are down around $400-$500, which is reasonable for a good pistol.

I can't think of a single gun I think is under-priced... unless I'm trying to sell it :D

I would argue that if the caveat is that they are underpriced because they are not made by S&W, that S&W are actually overpriced.

I second that. Other than 637s/638s/642s, and their "Bodyguard" snub, any other their wheel guns are overpriced in today's MFG world.
I also agree that most 1911s are overpriced as well. And I've been jonesing for a S&W "E" series 1911 for a long time too.
Also think that most AR's are overpriced, mainly due to the demand.
Just my $0.02

Under Valued: Dan Wesson with four barrels for under $800. I could have bought one at a Gun Show last weekend for $725.

What are your choices?

I would agree on the DW. The secret is getting out though. I paid $300 OTD for my Monson 15-2 with just the 4" barrel and consider that a pretty good bang for the buck. It's an excellent revolver.

Prices on them are going up.

Overvalued: In California, pretty much any boxy black "me too" tacticool pistol not on the California roster. Forbidden fruit, I guess. They're not illegal, just hard to get.

K-31.

i don´t see why no manufacturer is making shortened, scoped scout rifles from it - and sells them.
