The most expensive gun in my collection & the one that has gone up the most is a 22 rim fire. It happens to be a Dakota Model 76 which was special ordered in the mid 80's. Paid about $1600 for it & now it's worth about 5 grand. The model 52 Winchester sporter was even better. You could buy them for about 200 bucks in the 50's & they also are about 5 grand now.

The milsurps as a group have probably done the best as they were often very cheap when imported and many have more than tripled in value. The only milsurp I wish I would have purchased a couple were the Russian SKS's. I am generally not particularly interested in milsurps.

200 bucks was a lot of money in the 50's.

I would say it's my CZ-75B Kadet,,,

I bought it new about 8 years ago for $600 even,,,
I saw one go on Gunbroker last month for $1,365.00.

Mine is still in LNIB condition,,,
If I ever get strapped for cash this might have to go.

Well, my friend drilled out the barrel on a blank revolver, RG I think, and lined the barrel with a piece of car antenna to shoot regular .22's. I bought it from him for $5 when I was in Jr. HS in NYC. I used to shoot .22 shorts in it.

Fast forward 40+ years or so and they gave me $200 for it at a gun buyback in Brooklyn. So that's like, what, 40x the original price? Not adjusted for inflation, of course.

Hard to say, as a lot of mine were picked up at a good price, and quite a few were bought as "shooter" condition.

If I had to venture, it might be something I wouldn't think of, such as a cheap FEG HP clone. I picked mine up a few years back, refinished with a quick parkerized job from Coles. It was dirt cheap at the time. With the HP now retired, those clones are going up in price.

If we're talking short-term, it might well be my C308. I got it earlier this year for about $550, I now see it in stock for $950.

My most expensive is a smith Wesson k.32 masterpiece inherited from my favorite uncle. He bought it back in the fifties. Now it’s worth over $3000.00,not for sale.
