What is the nicest gun you were ever given as a gift?

My favorite Uncle gave me this Winchester model 12 16 ga.while he was living some
50 years ago. I hesitated taking it as it marked the end of an era of hunting with him. It is my most cherished possession.

I have been gifted very few, and they were mostly pedestrian. So nicest in my book is the Mossberg 500 12 gauge combo my wife gave me back in the late 1980s. It was my first personally owned firearm. It’s seen a lot of use over the years and will no doubt be one of the last I ever part with.

Nicest guns I have ever been given was shortly before my father in law passed 3 years ago. He gave me quite a few but the 2 nicest ones are his S&W 686 with a Vortex Venom sight and his S&W 629 Classic Power Port with a Vortex Venom sight , it has the Endurance Package both are high polished stainless. Can someone tell me what the Endurance package is on older 629’s I have no idea… Thanks

My grandfather bought a new Winchester M59 12ga in 1964 and was killed in a car crash the following year. My grandmother gifted the shotgun to me when I turned 8. That sucker gave me some hellacious bruises as a lad breaking clay pigeons with my dad, who passed away when I was 10. My most cherished firearm, and my stepson has claimed dibs on it when I die.

Mine would be my avatar.
You Gave my favorite gun in the world AWAY! …. ooooh wow

Well, in 1965 my Uncle Sammy gave me a real nice 1911A1 made by Singer Sewing Machine Co. But being the Indian giver that he is, he took it back 2yrs later.

I got a Win model 1886 in 45-90 with a broken carrier and missing carrier hook with a shot out/reamed bbl. Cost too much to repair; a Smith said it was common when a 45-70 or -90 was shot out to ream smooth and use it as a lever .410. My father traded 10 gal gas for it (working) after the depression.

I was musing on a thread about “if you hit the lottery, what would you buy”? I posted that I would seek out one of the two remaining New Centurys chambered in 45 S&W Special that were tested in the 1907 Army Trials. Since there were only two, I opined that a replica would do, IF, someone had a beater Triple Lock. Well, a forum member read that post and responded with an offer to sell his! My wife heard of it and told me to buy it!!

The above image is the old Triple Lock on top of a pile of grips.

I have also acquired a correct vintage cylinder to rechamber to 45 S&W Special. It should come together soon.

I've only ever been given two guns. The first was a Remington 510 Targetmaster, .22 S, L, or LR bolt action single shot. A family friend I called 'Uncle' Jack gave it to me when I was 8 or 9 years old. I learned to shoot guns with that rifle, Uncle Jack taught me out behind his house. He was a WWII Marine veteran. Unfortunately, I don't still have it, I paid it forward to the son of a good friend many years ago.

Second gun I was given I still have. My father-in-law gave me a Colt Model M .32 Auto Pocket Hammerless about 25 years ago before he passed. It was issued to him during WWII. It's a 1944 manufacture date and is stamped "US Property". I've shot it a fair amount, but it's been quite a few years since I fired it.
