What is your favorite 9mm JHP cartridge?

My reloaded 124GR HST's. As others have said the right bullet with the right powder is very accurate. It took me only 3 different loads to find the sweet spot for that bullet. I carry Winchester Ranger T's +P+.

Hornady HAP rounds for target, and Gold Dot or Golden Sabre for defense loads.
nice awards. ive seen a lot of good videos on the gold saber. it even beat out the HST 147 AND 124 in one test on utube. I hear the fbi used to use them...

how do u determine the "sweet spot"?

There are several top-tier JHP's out there now, and the reality is that the difference in them is pretty much negligible. At this point, it comes down to things like what length barrel you're using, and what your particular gun cycles well.
Between stuff like the Gold Dots, Golden Sabres, HST's, and a couple others, there simply isn't a definable "best".
I've been researching ( or RE-researching) this issue again lately, specifically for a new Walther PPS with a short 3" barrel, and all I've settled on is one of the above in 124 gr. ;)

I like the 115 grain XTPs, but i still have a soft spot for Sierra JHPs, too.
Zinging them out pretty quick on a stout load of Unique.

Tied for first place:
-Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P
-Federal HST 124gr +P

In 1 1/4th place
-Federal HST 147gr standard pressure

Inexpensive for practice, JHP testing, range use, spare mags in obscure locations, etc etc
-Federal 9 BPLE

Last place will never load defensively again: Anything Winchrapper

What Slowfuse said

"Federal classic 9bp. Cheap enough to practice extensively with and still good enough to carry. Has a proven record. I actually like the 9bple but since you said non +p (this is +p+) I vote standard 9bp."

Works for me.

This post caught my interest so I looked into this stuff a bit. I found a video showing this stuff to penetrate completely through blocks of balistic gel, and into a couple water jugs, and STILL not expand at all.
Yes, it's inexpensive, and I'm sure it'll go 'bang' everytime, but this older ammo isn't nearly as effective as the more contemporary offerings discussed already.

It is true that the current premium defensive JHP's offer more reliable expansion than the old guard. Things like 9BP, 9BPLE, Hydra-Shok, and whatever else, had their time as the best, but that time has past. You are going to get more consistent, reliable bullet performance from an HST or Gold Dot (and others, but those are my favorites).

yes...middle ground as I remember the dismal (albeit improved now) performance of the early 147GR cartridges...115GR has caused some issues in my shorter barreled pistol (but this may also be that it was cheaper made cartridges too)...

Yes my favorite 9mm JHP cartridge is the 9mm Kurz.

Did I misread the question?

Yes, I believe so. The OP is asking about standard 9mm rounds, not the .380 ( or 9mm "short", which is what ''9mm kurz'' means). The diameter is the same, but they aren't the same bullet, so that doesn't help the OP (or any of the rest of us here looking for useful info).

If you mean the actual 9mm bullet-projectile it is a Hornady XTP 90 grain Jacketed Hollow Point.

.452 is just trolling because OP didn't say "9x19, 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, or 9mm NATO"...even though every single person in this thread, including .452, knows precisely what Op was referring to.
