My AR, just bought it, no place to shoot it that's close to my home, but always wanted one. The way things are going ,you may as well get one while you can. I saw guys buying several at a time this past weekend at the gun show.

M28 Smith 4". N frames are really too big for me, but they always were the most gun for the money in the day. Finally managed to keep a third one which is 99 percent in the box. Now THAT'S a gun.

"Just because" of unusual design: Beretta 86 and Browning Auto-22. The Beretta is a large (for the cartridge), tipup barrel .380; the Browning takes down in the middle, loads through a magazine in the buttstock and ejects out the bottom, as well as having unusual shape and proportions. The bottom ejection quickly pockmarked my offside forearm with the empty cases.

Old Model three-screw Super Blackhawk .44 Magnum 7 1/2" barrel.

A local casino offered a promotion, they'd match any other casino's "free play" 7 to 1. It just so happened that I had $15 free play x 4 weeks at Circus Circus and they honored it, giving me $420 free play in the course of a month. I'd go in weekly, physically count hands until my original $105 free play was played, cash out and get out. At the end of the month, I had $490.

The following weekend we went to Scheel's and there, in the used gun case, sat this monster, priced at $250! "Just because" it needed a home and would fit in my Ruger SA family...

Actually, once you get past hunting and SD, ALL guns are "just because".:D

My S&W 469. Wanted a compact 9mm, and found it for $250.

Also my single shot 20 gauge. I had no reason for wanting it than I wanted a single shot 20 gauge for a yard gun. It's my yard gun :D

Probably 2/3 of my collection???

'94 SRC 38-55,100% original, perfect bore, shotgun butt, button mag, just said take me home.
'73 2nd model 38-40 rifle, perfect bore, nice finish, shotgun butt, half mag, globe front, original lyman peep, made in 1883, my grandfathers birth year so i bought it
'86 deluxe pistol grip takedown 45-70, 1901, Letters, original, could be on a shelf with hang tags, useless safe queen, but i always wanted an '86 45-70.
A bolt .375, Peter Capstick made me do it
Too many more to list.

Erma .22 conversion kit for my FAL. Cost twice what I paid for the FAL, but emptying a magazine costs pennies instead of dollars.

Ruger #1 .270. Because I've killed more deer with it than all my other guns combined and both my sons killed there first deer with it and its just pretty.

It makes no sense, but I just like it. Beretta 1934 .380, pre-68 commercial model. The 1934 is know as a simple, reliable, and rugged pistol, and I kind of wanted a .380 to shoot alongside my wife's Colt Mustang; I load .380, just wanted a a gun to shoot it with. It's too big by today's standards, or too heavy, or too underpowered for its size, but it has it's own look, its own personality. I like to think it would be the weapon of choice of the Godfather (not a big fan, just find the Italian connection amusing). A 1934 was used in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi a few years back. Not a big fan of assassins, just find it interesting.

AR-15 with a Colt M16A1 upper and M16 furniture (triangle handguards, A1 pistol grip, A1 buttstock). I really don't need it, but I just like it. I suppose my S&W 27-2 5" blued N frame .357 magnum revolver is in the same boat.

7mm mauser that was bubba'd to hell. Why you ask? Got it the weekend before I deployed for 15 bucks at a yard sale. dont think ill get a deal like that again

I like the early Berettas too. I have this little .25 model 418 (if I remember right mine's from the '40s) 'just because' of its associations with the early Bond books, which I read as a kid and still re-read now and again.

Alberforth,

Thanks for the image of the Ronson type lighter. I can't collect anything, but I have accumulated a few of the pre-Zippo lighters.
