What was your first gun?

My dad and I went halves on our first handgun a Ruger standard in 1982. It mostly sat in his sock drawer, but when I went to the family farm it came along as needed. My dad made sure it came with me when I moved to Ohio for work. Mostly because he laid claim to my Colt .45.

My Grandfather gave me a Remington 11-48 20 gauge shotgun the day that I was born. I still have it. The first gun that I bought was a Colt Frontier Scout in 22 long rifle when I was about 11 or 12 years old. I started mowing and raking yards at a pretty young age!

It would be one of two. Frankly, I cannot accurately say which it was. A Marlin Glenfield Model 60, which is a .22lr rifle, or a 30 Carbine that my grandfather gave me.

The Marlin was stolen, along with several other guns. However, I still have the carbine.

First owned: JM Marlin 336 .30-30 (Still have)
First purchased: 1858 ?ASM? Remington Target (Front sight was crooked, sold to someone who wanted it more)
First purchased centerfire: Beretta 92FS (Still kicking myself for selling THAT one)

My grandfather gave me an H&R .410 single shot before I could walk. Got me and my older brother each one.

Then when I was 11 or 12 he gave me my 2nd and 3rd guns. A Remington 550-1 22LR and an Arisaka type99 7.7Jap. I ended up butchering up the Arisaka in my attempt to sporterize it when I was 12 or so. I still have all 3 guns.

The 1st firearm I ever bought myself was a Marlin mod 17V .17hmr the day they became available at Walmart Supercenter. I don't have it anymore. Got in a bind when I 1st got married and our twins were little, had to send it down the road for diapers.

When I graduated college my grandpa gave me a Colt Single Action Frontier Scout .22LR/.22Mag pistol. I had grown up shooting it as a kid. It is nickle and gorgeous. I used it for home defense in my first apartment with the .22 Mag cylinder. The first gun I ever bought was shortly after getting married in 1992, I bought a 70Series Colt LWC. 45ACP 1911 from a local pawn shop. I still have both those pretty Colt's.

First gun was a bolt action Remington single shot .22, a 541? Next was a single shot Stevens 94b 12 ga, both gifts from my father. They would be the last guns I would ever sell for that reason.

My first gun was a side by side .410 my grandpa gave me when I passed hunters safety. It'll go to my son when he does the same. Still drives a few of my friends green with envy when I haul it out for small game and grouse. Great little gun.

First one I bought was a Remington 700 in .30-06. Killed many deer with that one, still has never missed one. Haven't shot it in quite a few years as I've mostly swapped to .308 for target and hunting, but I keep meaning to drag it out some day and start loading up some .30-06.

First I bought myself Ruger P97. Had it out to the range a couple weeks ago.

My first hand gun was a Ruger P89. Good first gun, but it was quickly sold for my first 1911, which started the 1911 addiction.

Mine was a Marlin 22 which I purchased when I was 12 with money I had earned. My Mom bought it for me. I purchased a Weaver 4X scope for it and plinked all thru my childhood. I still have it and rebuilt it with new springs and firing pin. The 22 was modeled after the M1 Carbines.

Mossberg 500 Home/Field Combo. I started put thinking I'd just get a shotgun, handgun, and rifle to cover my bases. Suffice to say, it didn't stop there, though I'm nowhere near many of my peers here number-wise.

First was a savage (I think) bolt action shotgun someone had cut down to 18". Got it when I was 14 at a gun show for $80 from paper route money. in great shape other than the cut down, wish I still had it. It got traded away for a 30-06 if I remember correctly.

Hi...
My first gun was a pump action .22RF that I bought at the local hardware store with my first paycheck in 1970. I was 14 years old...paid cash, can't remember the cost but the owner of the store gave me a box of .22LR ammunition for free.
I worked the summer in the Tri-County program for disadvantaged youth...my father had passed away and we were living on Social Security survivors benefits and my mother's income as a waitress, plus whatever my older brother and his wife paid my mother to live with us.

I still have that rifle and shoot it now and then. It will be my son's some day... hopefully not too soon.

A Daisy, .177 smooth bore air ‘rifle’. Got me hooked but it then took another 35 years and the death of my father in law to start my new collection.

I remember it well, November 1970, 2 months after getting out of the service a bunch of friends took me hunting for the first time in my life. I bought a Mossberg 500 12 ga, 28" with modified choke.
