If you had a Marlin Model 60 .22 rifle, Ruger MKIII .22 pistol, Bersa Thunder .380 pistol, Ruger P-95 9mm pistol and a Winchester 12ga. shotgun what would be your next firearm purchase for a well rounded gun safe?

Cosnidering your $500 budget, listed in no particular order of preference:

1. a .357 magnum revolver, S&W L frame or Ruger GP100, new or used will depend on your locale, patience or resourcefulness.

2. a 1911 45 acp, Rock Island Armory

3. a Marlin 1894C .357 lever rifle

4. a .30-06 or .308 bolt rifle, too many good ones to list

You need a high capacity military style rifle: 7.62x39 or .223 or something. May be hard to do for $500 these days though.

That or +1 on ammo

Here's my $.02, because I just went through the same analysis, and my collection is similar to yours:

- Get a Curio & Relics license: $30 for 3 years
- Once you've got it - get a Romanian Tokarev for around $220
- Start buying Tokarev ammo: Ammunition-to-Go sells 200 rounds of 7.62x25 for around $20.
- Take the remaining $200 or so and buy a mosin, cz-52, invest in more ammo, or whatever.

Just my $.02. :)

My 2¢...
The only thing you are missing is a high power rifle.
Get a Mossberg 100ATR and spend the rest on a scope.

+1 on the "evil" rifle. Maybe an AR kit build, or if you're feeling ballsy, and AK build.

I remember a guy told me once "Well, ammo doesn't eat anything, and it won't throw up in your shoes. Might as well keep as much around as possible."

For $500? A Colt Python, without hesitation.

If I found one in decent shape for 500 bucks, I'd buy it for sure.:D

Sounds to me like you need a centerfire rifle. If I were you, I'd sell your .380 and use the money from that plus the $500 to buy a Garand. I don't see what the point is in owning a .380 when you have a 9mm.

If you really don't want to sell your .380 for whatever reason, you should be able to get a good Lee-Enfield for $500 or less.

Travis Bickle,

My .380 is alot easier to conceal in certain situations than my 9mm and it's a great shooter so I'm not inclined to part with it.

I wouldn't mind a center fire rifle but the only time I would use it is at the range, it's not much good for CCing. :p

A center fire rifle, you do not have one of those. Marlin 336, a scoped bolt action, maybe an SKS. It might be the wrong time to buy anything inflated in price (SKS) or it might be a good time.

Well now this is a very different set of parameters than the original post. I would suggest not buying anything that you "wouldn't mind" and just get something that you totally want.
