A 1911 of some sort..... You could pick up an RIA or SA Mil-spec and have money left over.

$600?

I'd buy another Sig P239, and put the leftover in a cookie jar to spend on a Crimson Trace Lasergrip for it, IF they ever manage to produce one....... :D

What would you buy?

Springfield .45 Stainless Mil-Spec 1911, Alessi OWB holster and ammo.

man those s.s. S.A. are looking good!

hum.........................

A starter GPS unit, some hiking equipment, and an MP3 player. But if is has to be a gun I'd buy a Winchester Super X2. If it's got to be on your list, I would keep saving.

I just received a NIB Beretta M9 (20 year anniversary production) as an early 21st bday gift. It cost about $600 otd. I'm going to go shoot it tomorrow.

Anyone have any tips for a new beretta m9? (Basically the same as a 92fs).

Assuming handgun only:

A lightly used S&W 28 with a 4" barrel in .357 Magnum and a lightly used Springfield 1911A1 GI in .45ACP. I think I could fit those in if I shopped carefully. To me these are the ultimate "cover it all" guns. With the right loads the .357 Magnum can take down deer and similar game, the .45ACP cartridge will potentially work on the same, and the .357 can use shot-shells to take small game or kill pests. I wouldn't want to bet my life on either, especially the shot-shells, but if I had to make it work I think I could. The 1911A1 is my favorite handgun, love the feel of it. With work, and some rolls of fat, both can be concealed, though the 1911A1 is the only one feasible for every-day carry.

The 1911A1 is the packer, the fighter, and the backup food gun. The .357 is for practice(with .38s, and the hefty weight, it would be light recoiling and cheap), is no slouch in the gunfighting area, could be concealed, and would be a good hunting gun/backup hunting gun. As an added bonus they are both beautiful guns. And if you can help it, why live with ugly guns? Life is short, use somethin' classy. A .22lr would be useful for many things if I could add that in. Now, if you include longarms... whew boy.

well, the .45acp and the .357 are going to be in my near future.............

im working on a 1911, a K-L frame s.s. .357(nonlocked) and a 15 shot or so 9mm.......

but i will have to do one at a time.......

the Thompson Auto-Ordnance parkerized 1911s look good and are priced right.

ive been shopping around and can find a 686 well used but tight for a litlle over 300 bills, and ive been looking at the Sigma or the hungarian H.P. copy for the 9mm.

of course, i can be swayed if the prices are right when i actually walk inthe shop with the money....

600 bucks? Another (dental) crown. 3 done, 4 more to go (assuming no more teeth break or fillings fall out), at about $500 apiece.
