I bought a pretty decent Winchester 37A in 12 gauge for $35. from a kid back in the early 90's. About the same time I picked up a Spanish Mauser FR-7 for $50. and traded it off quickly for $120. in credit on something...what it was escapes me now, but I remember giving the new recipient a caveat on the headspace problems I found with it.

I've bought Swedish Mausers (model 96's) in the $65-$75 range way back when they were common as dirt. You can still find the occasional M44 for $50 or so, but they aren't as nice as the ones selling for that price 3 years ago.

Regards,
Rabbit.

.32 1935 berretta and .22 derringer from 67. salvage. had to pick it out of a pile of trash, i guess that's payment.

i gotta do another thread that will make you all cry/ want to strangle me,
about some rifles i passed on.

When I was 8 years old I bought my first pistol from a friend of my dads for $30 it is a Ruger standard 22 auto with spare magazine and holster. He said that it wasn't accurate but after having it for 42 years I just think that he didn't take enough time to learn how to shoot it. After all these years it still works great and I'd hate to know how many rounds have been shot out of it, I learned how to shoot a pistol with it as have my wife and kids. Great Gun. rugerman

my friend got a single shot 12 gauge for 40 bucks last september. It was made in 1912 by some arms company in Philadelphia. First gun like it Ive seen

Assistant manager of a theater I worked at needed some fast cash, sold me a Barnett crossbow for $35. next day asks me if i'd be interested in an old rifle he had... sure why not? So for $50 I took home a Remington made 1903-A3 Springfield with a second 'sporter' stock. I'd say that was a good deal.

Picked up an FEG Pa-63 in .380 for a $100 and change at a gun show, that is a great little gun for the money.

S&W .38 Special M&P $50. Colt Match Target 2nd Model (with 1911-style mag release) with serious cosmetic pitting, perfect bore and operation - $50.

RG 25 caliber pocket pistol for about $35 brand new from a gun store. Yes that was a while back even for a Rotten Gun as I now call em. That was my very first pistol. It was somewhat useful until I moved back to NY. I took it apart and threw the pieces into a salt water bay.

I also bought a M44 for $20 or $25. Got it from a dealer from whom I had just bought 3 so called unissued Yugo SKSs. Two of the SKSs had obviously been fired, one of them quite a bit and it had notches on the stock. My guess is that it had been used over in Serbia, Croatia or somewhere like that some years back when they had all that trouble. Well the dealer made it up to me by giving me a $20 or $25 credit. I spent it on this M44 - totsl cost of the gun with free shipping. It is hiding lost somewhere in my basement. Never fired it, but someday I will refinish the stock, have it blued, and sell or trade it.

I had a neighbor sell me a mossberg GI 22 trainer for 20 bucks

bought an AR for 250, roofer was in jail, needed the 250 to get his car out of the impound lot before he got busted for what was in the trunk........

bought several pre 64 model 70's from a retired guy for just about what he paid for them....IN 1954. I offered to pay more, but he said deal was deal

a dozen chicom norinco SKS for 49 each.

This one also counts as "fastest impulse purchase," "worst purchase overall," "worst purchase unrelated to the reason I was in the shop," "most expensive paperweight I ever purchased" and many, many more:

Jennings J-22, new in box, around 1990, $60.

Runner-up: 9x18 Makarov, formerly owned by some Iraqi, $75.

S&W 622 free. :D Gift from my Dad.

That I bought, Mosin Nagant M38 for $75. Also only gun I have bought at a gun show.

I invested $0.33 in a NIB Savage 111 combo in 7mm Rem mag a couple of months ago. Let that sink in for a second.

Now let me qualify that. My roommate discovered a pair of these combos at the local Wal-Mart which had been cancelled layaways. They sat in the back and were apparently discontinued by WM and replaced by a newer model. Meanwhile the older ones get clearance priced. They were asking $75 for them (the other was a .243). Well, I had been wanting a deer rifle anyway, though I had intended towards a .270, but how could I pass this up?

Well, on top of this all, I had just gotten a $50 gift card to the store of my choice from my work, so I chose to make it a WM gift card. However, it was still a couple of days before payday, so I asked my roommate to lend me $30 for a couple of days. The rifle with tax totals at $80.33. My roommate then tells me not to worry about paying him back- consider it my Christmas present.

:what: Yep, $0.33 invested.

Bought my first gun off my co-worker a year ago: EAA Windicator .38 Spl. snub-nose, $100. Still have it, still shoot it, great little revolver!

Heritage Arms "Rough Rider" .22LR/.22MAG combo revolver.

Cost $109.00 NIB, IIRC.

I wanted something cheap in a .22 revolver that I could drop in the dirt and not cry over, and I found it!.

Bought three Thompson Contenders. Thru bartering and trading and whining, I had a total of $475 in all three. Sold two for $575. Kept the $100 and one of the Contenders. Shoots great.
