What's the word on the AGC Diablo?

I wouldn't want it in a handgun, but I've been digging the idea of a modern smoothbore 4 bore shotgun for a while. I want to load it with 8 shot and basically make it a man portable punt gun.

I’d be up for firing such a thing. Not sure what I’d do with it after that but it would be entertaining!

Well we WERE talking about hunting with them and when I said I didn't think muzzleloaders were exempt from gauge size you popped up with "they certainly are you can mail order a cannon".

Fair enough. I’m guessing if enough people had such weapons and wanted to use them for waterfowling, an argument could be made for changing the law to allow it. The period of punt gun overhunting by recreational level hunters seems to have passed and I don’t think it’s likely it would return even if the laws that prevent it were dropped.

Are there a lot of places with restrictions on large bore muzzle loading weapons for deer and pigs and such?

MS just says muzzleloading shotguns or rifles .38 caliber or larger. I do not think 8 bore or larger would go over too well on deer hunting tho. It might be ok for hogs since they're not a game animal but I don't know for sure.

I know nothing about Mississippi deer but if they’re on the smaller side the 8 bore might be enough to anchor them. Too much gun?

They're not small. Average bucks weigh around 200 pounds. An 8 bore would do the job.

I have other priorities but I’ve been eying them since prerelease. I like the idea. I’d rather have one capable of running shells. Prolly a little more barrel like the desperado. But if I knew anyone that had one I’d pitch in on supples to be able to shoot it with them.
