I love threads like this, because I have 22 pistol disease. I like these S&W pistols, but my Ruger SR1911 with Kimber Conversion is fun to shoot. Third is the Cohort, then a GSG922 and a Beretta Bobcat. Last is a Ruger LC9 with Twisted Industries 22 conversion.

My buddy has one of those 10" Ruger MKll bulls.
Gun is really a mini rifle and I covet that pistol! :)
Try as I may, he ain't selling, go figure... :(

It's a split decision:

Ruger MkIII 22/45 because it's so darn easy to shoot accurately.

S&W 4" Model 17 because it handles so darn well and is a lot of fun to shoot.

I really like my Neos as well, great little gun that is just fun....then turn it into a carbine and it is shocking how well it shoots....just amazing.

But if all had to go but one I would keep my ole pre woodsman....very nice and elegant pistol.....very picky about ammo however.

My 2 favorite .22LR. handguns are a Walther PPK/S & a Stoeger Arms Luger w/ 6" standard blr. They are both very accurate & reliable. The Luger has taken quite a number of small game. Now I use it for paper.

That would be Allegra,,,

That would be Allegra,,,
My Beretta Model 87 Cheetah.

25-allegra.jpg

It's certainly not my "best" .22 pistol,,,
And it's not the most accurate of my .22 pistols,,,
But because of it's beauty and fit to my hand it's my favorite .22 pistol.

My Bersa holds more rounds,,,
My Taurus 22-PLY is more concealable,,,
My Ruger SR-22 does anything Allegra can do,,,
My Ruger 22/45 and my NEOS' are much more accurate,,,
My CZ-75B Kadet performs just as well and cost me much less money.

But there is something about the Cheetah pistols,,,
That make them very desirable to me,,,
I also own a Model 85 in .380 ACP.

No matter what other guns I take to the range,,,
Allegra always goes for at least 48 rounds,,,
I just love the way she nests in my hand.

Allegra (which means lively in old Italian) is maybe a nostalgia gun,,,
My former mother-in-law (who I miss more than the ex-wife),,,
Had one for her bedside gun and would let me shoot it,,,
We went to the "shooting place" quite often,,,
And we always had a great time plinking.

Allegra isn't my best .22 pistol by any means,,,
But she is definitely my favorite.

My Smith and Wesson 22a is the most accurate 22 pistol I have shot.Better than the old Rugers and a fraction the price of a model 41.So thats my favorite.sorry,no extra credit.
Agree with this. To me, a good .22 pistol shouldn't cost a lot. But that's because I only plink. Low cost makes shooting a reliable and accurate pistol fun.

Hello chicharrones,,,

Nice pistola. Allegra is what my little Bersa wishes it could be.

It's interesting that you say that,,,
Because I find the two pistols to be very similar.

I also own a Bersa Thunder 380/Thunder 22 pair,,,

Functionally the Bersa has a feature I wish that Allegra had,,,
I really like the decocker on the Bersa,,,
Allegra doesn't have a decocker.

BersaBeretta.jpg

I bought the Bersa about three months before I got Allegra,,,
What happened was I had the cash for the Bersa,,,
So I bought it when I gave up owning a Beretta.

Then I got a nice one-time windfall of cash,,,
Without that "found" money I wouldn't have been able to afford Allegra,,,
So I splurged while the cash was there and have never regretted that decision to buy.

Except that it gave me the strong urge,,,
To buy a Cheetah in .380 as well,,,
I like rimfire/centerfire pairs.

The Bersa has equal fit and finish to the Beretta,,,
And as far as accuracy/reliability goes,,,
It again equals the Beretta,,,
For half the money.

While my Bersa doesn't make me smile like my Allegra does,,,
As far as any measure of true functionality goes,,,
Your Bersa is on equal footing to my Beretta.

first pistol I shot with, baikal margolin probably the best 22LR gun from 60s.... ugly as hell however

I hate you! ;) Beautiful collection of target pistols. I know if I had the cash I'd have several of those.

Thanks Mike.

I know this sounds like trying to justify buying good guns but truly I never lost money on the few I sold. Normally made a couple of bucks in fact.

IMHO, the best bargain out there are the new High Standards made in TX. I have never had one shoot 5-shot groups over 1" @ 50 yards. It has been a while since I bought one (I have 4) but the retail price then was under $800 and they come out of the box with a 2-2.5 lb trigger plus the trigger is adjustable from the back of the gun without taking anything apart.

I've owned a bunch of 22 handguns over the years, but I suppose my favorite is the Ruger Standard Automatic, with a 4" barrel and fixed sights. Simple, reliable, and fairly inexpensive, if I was going to cut down to just one handgun, that's what it would be.

This one is my wife's. It's a Mark II, NRA Commerative Edition.

I've got a 50th anniversary one on layaway now, unfired, in the box. That one happens to be a Mark II, but I don't really like one "Mark" over the others. I've owned all three, and never saw much difference in them, and like them all.

Very interesting pair of pistolas you have there.

Well I borrowed a buddy's Browning Buckmark today. A 4 inch slab side barrel with a red-dot type sight.
The temp was 18F with a gray hazy sky. It had a hard time functioning with standard velocity ammo. The groups at 20 yards were not super impressive. You can see the one group I shot at 50 yards using a cheap ( $60 ) yard sale Chinese J21 22 bolt action rifle as a comparison.
