Never buy? A DGI AR. If I never have to clean another of them it will be too soon. A Mini-14. Bastard abomination of a rifle. A S&W .500. I can get behind the Desert Eagle but the S&W is just too much for me to deal with. Any HK. Glock, Walther, SIG, FN, all fine. HK, get bent. You too Berreta.

The following are just my opinion, but I would never buy any Bond, Bryco, Desert Eagle, Glock, Jennings, Jericho, Kahr, Kel-Tec, Kimber, Lorcin, Ruger LCP, Ruger LCR, S&W Scandium .357s. (Sorry, but firing a .357 Magnum round out of a 12 oz, 1 7/8-inch barreled revolver doesn't even qualify as a testosterone overload; it's just stupid.) S&W Sigma, Taurus Judge. You won't find me buying any automatic with a beavertail, either.

Since I am buying a gun, not a political viewpoint, I am perfectly happy with the idea of buying Rugers and S&Ws with internal locks. I prefer automatics with real hammers (I prefer revolvers with them, too) but am considering making an exception for a Walther P99 with the decocker because it will go with the Walther P22 that I think is a great little gun and a hoot to shoot and my Walther PK380, the same thing in a larger caliber.

I noticed nobody really picked on FN, which is nice; I really like my FNP-9.

Long guns: No AKs, though I would consider a Mini-30. Not really in the market for an AR, but there are some I would consider. Don't need a .50 BMG, either. Actually, I am pretty happy with my CX-4 and my Henry.

Cheezy trigger, if it's squishy, made out of plastic and has a funny little "tab" in the center, that's cheeze-whiz. Triggers need to be adjustable, by the OWNER, for over-travel, and tension.

I want a forged receiver, forged barrel, STEEL. Polymer works for frames, but I want the slide running on STEEL runners. Scandium, titanium, whoopium, alumiloy, brass -- let's leave those for boat builders and airplanes.

Lifetime warranty -- ANY firearm should be warranted for life. If there's a expiration date on the factory backup, my interest in ownership just got voided. Transferable, from owner to owner. Leupold does this, RCBS, and some gun manufactures too. I'm not going to name names.

I'm seeing lots of stuff on the lists here where I think the post is just plain wrong. But then that's what makes horse races worth betting on.

Just the other day I ran Winchester SilverTip hollowpoints, Winchester white box hard ball and Wolf steel cased hard ball through a Thompson Auto-Ordnance .45 Caliber Automatic (West Hurley), no failures to function with a cheap 1911 clone many people love to hate and disparage.

EVERY dangerous game animal on the planet up to and including elephant and Cape Buffalo has been taken with the 30-06 at one time or another. That's not what I'd call an "in-between" kind of a gun.

What, are you the official post critic??? Elephants have been taken with the .22 rimfire but that doesn't make it a dangerous game cartridge. Most, if not all, professional hunters will require you to show up with at least a .375H&H for anything even remotely resembling a dangerous game hunt. It's only premium, modern bullets that even make 'that' cartridge suitable for anything bigger than large plains game. So not only is the fact that you take it upon yourself to criticize every post in this thread arrogant, but the statements you make are silly and false.

I've waded through 62 pages of this thread and NOBODY mentioned Freedom Arms single shot revolvers (although somebody did mention single shot revolvers in general).

Yo mean single action revolvers??? You own not one but two FA's and call them single SHOT revolvers??? That speaks volumes on the credibility of your nonsense. They're certainly not for everyone, that much is certain. Although the men I know who have them use them and use them hard. No finer revolver is made today.

I nominated probably one of the best Revolvers on the market as a "never buy" gun simply because my specific one had a trigger I (a very, very, very novice shooter) at the time didn't like it.

This isn't some sort of quality judgement, This is a purely "first image in mind" association game. It's a nice one though!

The S&W 500 posts made me lol. I bought one because I am a movie fan. Put ten rounds through it. That beast is a safe queen. I have it mostly to impress girls.

Guns I would never buy.. H&R handi rifles, High priced 1911s that dont work (because John Brownings original design principals have been ignored- Combat and target guns we can have it all? maybe), Hi points, Very expensive guns that are very out reach, and AR15s. Direct gas impingement was nothing new and the designs chosen by sweden and even Egypt were cast aside by them fairly quickly. The concept dates back to the early part of the 20th century. But many people like them and just to be fair maybe I willl someday get a piston AR. I have spoken from my own experience, observation, lessons of history and conversations with a few middle east war vets and active military. keep em clean and clean them as often as you can. Rugers too... they always leave something to be desired. I have had 3 and shot a few more. We should always stick together and i always try to shoot and look at every firearm I can. I really do find them all interesting in someway no matter what they are. I am very liberal in that regard so bring me your Handi rifle , Mini 14 and AR15 festooned with the latest add-ons that make it more reliable I will shoot with pleasure. 1911s too I really do like them and love Glocks, HKs and Sigs too! Shooting and collecting is supposed to be fun and social as well as educational. Its all good and that how I roll.

I owned a Tec-9 back in the day and it was 100% reliable, no matter what I fed it. Wasn't pretty, but it worked great. Sold it but kind of regret not keeping it now.
