This is difficult, because I have everything that I "need", and 99% of everything I ever could want. Anything I could add to my gun vault would be simply a duplicate of a cartridge and rifle I already own, but simply a different "style". For example, I have an M70 Super Grade in .270 Win. What really would I add to my collection with the M70 Featherweight in .270 Win?!
Every time I look at different rifles or pistols, I come to the same conclusion. Whatever I could add, would add nothing whatsoever to my hunting abilities, so why keep spending more on more firearms? I might better use that money for going on some hunts-of-a-lifetime.
Between rifles in .22LR, .223 Rem, 5.56mm, .22-250 Rem, .243 Win, .270 Win, .308 Win, 7.62mm and .300 Win Mag, there is nothing in North America that I could not hunt (that I can afford to hunt). Add to those, handguns in .22LR, 9mm, 10mm, .38 Spcl, .357 Mag, and .45 ACP, what do I lack? Oh yeah, a couple 12 gauges. I have those too. I'm right-as-rain, for hunting and target shooting, and that feels awesome!
Now, I turn my focus to the various hunting seasons, and enjoy, very contentedly, what I already own. Would I like to have an M70 Featherweight? Sure. And an M70 Extreme Weather. But I don't need them, and I can use that same money to travel and hunt. My wish list:
Hunt more boar, whitetail, antelope, ram, black bear, pheasant, rabbit, squirrels, and most of all...introduce more non-hunters to our sport, and our culture. If I can do that, I've made a worthwhile contribution to society.
