Dunno, get one in 9x19 as well as 45acp?A Tisas Tanker in .45acp for $350, a case of ammo for $450 (?) and the rest set aside for the future.
Get an Auto-Ordnance (Kahr) GI model that lists for $925 (and that you can probably find for less). Spend the rest on ammo and accessories. But it has to be maximum $1250 tax included. Best handgun for the money
You have a maximu. of $1250 OTD to spend on any 1911 45 ACP due to tax return.
...Best handgun for the money
Whatever Dan Wesson you can find
This, to me, seems the obvious answer.Second the Dan Wesson.
Used ones pop up on occasion. In the last year or so I picked up a Heritage for $900 and a PM7 for $1000.Who is finding DW's in the OP's price range now-a-days?
Personally I'd get a Springfield Armory in the $800-$900 range but it's hard to argue with the Tisas, Girsan, RIA choices that are out there now.But it has to be maximum $1250 tax included. Best handgun for the money
I don't know what that is......due to tax return.
OK here is the scenario. You have a maximu. of $1250 OTD to spend on any 1911 45 ACP due to tax return.
Which one do you buy and why?
But it has to be maximum $1250 tax included. Best handgun for the money
Agree on the pre-owned Colt. … Not only will the Pony retain its value after purchase, but might arguably return the price paid down the road to the OP on re-sale, or even a bit more, unless purposely abused.New- Ruger SR1911, with enough left over for extra mags, holster, and ammo. Used- Colt 1991 80 series, kinda shunned by collectors so prices are a bit more digestible.
You know what's really easy to find? A holster for a Government or Commander size 1911.One that I saw a while back and have been doing a lot of research on are the ATI 1911s specifically their hybid "Moxie" line.
Still I'm seriously considering buying one.
Here's the Commander model in .45ACP.
The full size Moxie:
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLThe DW 1911s that were mentioned above are one of the better-made clones out there but are still overpriced, polished clones at best. Retained value, therefore, will be less than a Colt on resale or trade.
I don't carry so I really have no need for a holster. Of course others might and that's why there are Uncle Mikes and other similar holsters on the market. I'm sure in 1911 holster choices for JB's guns were limited........You know what's really easy to find? A holster for a Government or Commander size 1911.
You know what's going to be really hard to find? A good holster for one of those ATI hybrids. I'm not saying there aren't any, but you may want to find a holster that you like for one of those guns before you head down that path.

The official sidearm of the US Military quickly created a market to produce holsters for that gun. An odd design from a non-major player in the market, isn't going to create a lot of options any time soon. It's different from Glock introducing a G48. They're going to sell lots of them and holster guys are going to jump into that market real fast. An odd design from ATI is a different story.I'm sure in 1911 holster choices for JB's guns were limited........
My point was with any new design it's going to take some time for things like holster options to catch up, that's a given. I mean, how long has Glock been around as opposed to this design? Honestly for most people it's a non issue.https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/holster-disappointment.917805/

If folks like that gun and want to buy it, that's fine. I'm just pointing out a good holster option may not be easy to come by.
