Which AR-15? Brand?

It's interesting whenever these topics come up. Even though the OP has a generous budget, all the frugal cost-cutters turn out to recommend their favored value-brand of AR. That, or they recommend a complete home build. I know they mean well. Everybody wants to save money, right? Actually, maybe not. For some who make a comfortable living, saving a few hundred dollars here or there is really no big thing. Let them have a nice, "top-tier" rifle that they'll enjoy. Such things are considered "nice" for reason, and whether they truly provide a few hundred dollar's worth of extra niceness is sometimes beside the point. If the OP wants to spend his hard-earned money on an expensive rifle, I say let him do it.

Since the frugal issue has come up twice, I'll just mention that the OP said he can spend up to $2000, which means that it can be less. OP has also discussed less expensive rifles (e.g. the $900 Colt), and even bolt action guns. This overall discussion seems good to me.

The OP clearly said he didn't want to build a gun. Some people are willing to pay to have what they want straight out of the box - they attach a value to the convenience - and if that's what they want to do, I agree with you that they should get the information they asked for.

At some point this thread went way off the tracks.
And I agree, if he wants to buy a rifle and has 2K to spend on it, he will have a lot of good choices.
I hope he does his research, but as I said on the first page, he could find a Colt 6720 or 6920 and a very nice optic for that kind of cash and still have money for magazines and ammo left over.
