See Poll.

Don't need a lot of super-advanced stuff, like coreolis effect, etc.; just user friendliness; easy to read graphs and such.

Differences in the BulletFlights?

i've been using kac's bulletflight for quite a while now. it is quite good

there are some threads here about it

no experience with the others

best thing about bullet flight is how easy it is to flip from the 'simple' mode to the 'range card' or more detailed mode

I don't know enough about what you are even talking about to vote...much less reply. As you can tell, I'm not a tecchie.

I am so jelous, I want an iphone very bad but there is a list of guns I want more. So I am at a stalemate. Unless I convince somebody to get me an iphone for my graduation since although my family is all pretty pro-gun they would not give me a gun for graduation. (College not HS)

I've used iSnipe for the past year or so, and love it. However, I haven't used the others so don't have a point of comparison. It would be immensely helpful for someone to write up a review of the various options, as I find these applications fantastically useful while at the range or even in the field.

Sounds like we need to have Zak write up a full article on available ballistic calculators. Heck, I'd even chip in to buy them for the article!

Well, they're so cheap, it might just behoove me to get all of them or at least 3 (the top model from each maker), and compare them, since no one else seems to know for sure. I'm looking mainly for user friendliness; calculation of PBR / MPBR would be nice, by inputting your target size and ballstic data.

You guys have seen this, right?:

Anyone know where I can buy the P-rail adapter that puts the Iphone on the side of the rifle like that? 'Course, it may not be such a grand idea to subject the phone to recoil, would it?

i think they're using the "touch' models and not actual iphones.

a lot of iphone users, myself included, have a frequent annoying problem with the SIM cards, which is mitigated by stuffing paper in there to push the SIM card onto the contacts. offhand, i'd think recoil would totally screw up the SIM card contacts.

not sure if it would bother the rest of the phone.

There are very few different fundamental "formulas" used in the various ballistic calculators, with within reasonable small-arms range, they should all give values that are very close together-- I would expect less than 1 MOA spread at 1000 yards.

To get the comparative features I wanted and the data-card format, I ended up writing my own. I've used it with a new load and rifle, only zeroed at 100 yards, to make first-round hits out to about 800. I know others who have done the same using Sierra or one of the iPhone apps, atrag, etc.

The poll looks pretty close - too few votes to really tell anything.

Dr. Tad, which one did you get? Like it, would you recommend it etc etc?

Anyone else have any other thoughts to share for those of us thinking about getting one?

Thanks,
Tim

I still haven't downloaded one yet; anyone?

iSnipe has 4 votes, more than any other! (by 1 vote :) ). At just $5, I think I'll try it first.

I don't have an iPhone or iPod Touch... but I'd like to know how this thread continues.

I only own Bullet flight and I think it is a great program. It can easily show the range card and is customizable for different bullet weights. Another good feature is the GPS which pulls ambient atmospheric conditions at you location and factors it into the data.
