Lotsa interesting guns in this thread. I don't think I knew about a 4" barrel Shield, either. Looks like those are only available through the Performance Center?
In any event, my Shield is a 1.0. If the 2.0 had been available when I bought it, I might have gone with the 2.0, but I've never been able to justify trading mine in for the newer model. Comfortable to carry, reliable, shoots well, what more could I want?
Yes, they are 'PC' guns. I don't know how different that makes them. Some come cut for an optic, but mine did not, though it does have decent fo sights. Without the cuts, they are selling for about $450 online, and they are now also coming in 45acp.
I picked mine up on trade, like new, with 6 mags and a holster for a s&w 360.
It carries easily, and it shoots well.
Here are two 7-yard
targets on a few newish guns (excluding the Spring 1911) in 9mm and 45. I was checking my instinctive sight picture, which tends to be center hold, and poi. I loaded 5, shot from the draw and followed up with re-acquisition.
For me what is interesting is the shield groups are comparable to, if not better than, 4 full-sized pistols, including a cz 75b and fns 9ls.
You can also see the fns, m&p 45 2.0, and RIA Compact require a combat hold in my hand.
Now, as I practice with all guns, maybe I will plateau with the shield earlier ...
The shield is one the right of the top target, with both 115 and 147 grain.
