Montana, yes. Texas, not as much. Texas law is actually more restrictive than many other states, like CO, WY, AZ, NM, AK, the list goes on. Texas is no OC, and "No weapons" signs carry the weight of law. By comparison, here in CO, for example, OC is legal everywhere but city of Denver, and "No weapons" signs are just a policy of an individual or company; the most they can do for a violation is ask you to disarm or leave. If you refuse, they can have you charged with trespassing, but no weapons violation. The only time such signs have the law behind them here is if metal detectors are permanently in place at all entrances.
In short, while Texas is far from being a nanny state like MA or CA, it is also surpassed by many others WRT gun rights.
