This is a LEO too. What is the advantage to holding the gun laid over at such a hard angle?

As his arms are extended, ostensibly ready to shoot, there is no good reason for the cant of the pistol. Note his strong-hand thumb is also on the slide. Errant unaimed shots probable, malfunction certain.
It's easier for one-handed shooting, if you are facing the target. If you turn sideways to the target you can keep your hand vertical. I see the photo in the OP is of someone doing this shooting two-handed, I've never seen anyone do that IRL.This is a LEO too. What is the advantage to holding the gun laid over at such a hard angle?
